Antifreeze in oil

And it just gets worse, on a hunch checked oil today, sure as s*** had antifreeze in oil, nice millky color on the cap. Head gasket most likely?? Anyone know? Also if so any threads on fixing it, and how hard is it to fix..:confused:
 
A very likely reality. Only way to correct the issue is to correct the issue. If you are not a mechanic, I would recommend taking your car to a reputable mechanic to confirm the suspicion.
 
If you have the V8 sport, it could also be a failure in the oil-to-water cooler. That's the thing between the oil filter and the engine.
 
Is it just on the cap or is the oil on the dipstick milky? Around here it's not too unusual to see milk on the cap on a healthy engine.

If I am interpreting the op correctly, he checked the oil, as in a dipstick check. But, it is a fair question.
 
No I checked the cap, but i have a bit of oil coming out, and a bit of anti freeze coming out too, from underneath. Soo, if it was normal I would speculate that the two fluids wouldnt be leaking, is there any tech articles on replacing the gaskets

As Gus asked, what does your dipstick look like? If the oil is normal in appearance, you don't have much to worry about at this time. If the dipstick comes up like a light coffee color, then you really have water in the oil. Some water vapor in the crankcase is normal if the engine is not getting to full operating temperature. This water vapor will result in that small amount of slime at the cap.

As Joe says, you could have some seepage at the oil cooler. If you actually see coolant running down the block from the head gaskets, it is time for some new ones.

I had that on my 91 Town Car brosef. The engine was fine. If your head gaskets are that far gone you would be puffing some or ALOT of white smoke I would imagine. The guy I knew with that Turbo Regal caught his gasket issue before it showed on the stick and his car was already leaving a smokescreen driving it down the street.

Take it to Don's Circle Service in Circle Pines by the middle school. He'll give you a straightforward diagnosis without any bullchit and might as well have him check anything else out visually if he needs to.

If you are still having the hard start issue, mention that too. Tell him what we replaced.

Does anyone have a diagram of the engine pulled apart, the oil looked clean, but once again I had milkey substance under the cap, a lot of white smoke with vapor in it, however its rained a lot here recently and my car is stored outside, and I only ran it to the gym and back today, a 2 minute trip, and had the heat on to see if i had either a burning plastic smell or a coolant smell which had neither, coolant looks clean. Its leaking from the front, over by the oil filter, but it does look and smell like straight anti freeze. I realized today I have the premium package, does it have an oil cooler or no? If its truely a head gasket, unless any of you guys know anyone who is good at fixing this stuff fairly cheap its toodles for my Ls already.

Sounds like moisture not water/coolant in the oil. Hot oil (pan) cool, damp outside air and we all get some condensation in the hot oil. Steam will rise and condense on the bottom of the cap. That's why you need to get the oil up to operating temperature; to burn off any condensation. Short drives aren't enough to burn off the condensation. If the oil on the dipstick looks normal, I wouldn't be concerned.

Update: Good news, "or at least I think?" ran the car for about 20 minutes today, then came home and pulled the oil cap and it and the dispstick appeared to be clean, still clearly a leak somewhere, but its looking like it has nothing to do with head gaskets, still need to see if its coming from near oil cooler. Should I stop being worried about it yet or no?

Headgasket failure on the LS V8 is very rare. Oil cooler failure is rare too, but I do know of one case.

I don't think you have cause to assume the worst. However, you need to stop driving the car until you get to the bottom of this. If you get much coolant at all in the oil, you can quickly ruin the engine. (Water just doesn't provide the same protection as oil, and the oil pump will pick up the water first.)

Very true, there is also the case where I get myself worked up over anything that seems off car wise, but I still have my half heat, issue and it was said there is some damage to my oil plug, so could be two totally unrelated things that got me thinking it was something completely different, would getting my coolant pressurized and tested for where it is leaking tell me if it is something more severe than just say for example a hose leak?
 
A pressure test would only tell you the rate of the leak(s). You need to clean everything up really good and go hunting for the leak(s). You may have to add some dye to the coolant. Any leaks that have been going for a while should leave traces of dried coolant that are hard to wash off.

Here's what I would do:

1. Determine for certain if there is any problem with the oil-to-water cooler. Replace it if so.

2. Replace the the plastic cooling outlet pipe and thermostat housings with the Jaguar metal parts. Replace any other plastic cooling system parts in the front (including hoses with plastic sections, except for the radiator (unless it is leaking too). Replace the DCCV and the degas bottle.

3. Replace the belt while everything is out of the way. You may want to replace the tensioner as well.

4. Do a full coolant flush and then replace the coolant with new.

5. Fix the oil plug and/or oil pan. Don't go back to IffyLube. Do your own oil changes.
 
Remember too, even IF you don't want to change your own oil, the FLM dealer will charge you maybe a touch over $30 for synthetic blend and Motorcraft filter. Even THAT isn't too bad and they won't crossthread your drain plug like Iffy Lube might. I take my Mark8 there all the time just because my car was built around the damn filter. Only for oil changes though. ;)
 
Update: I am hopefully going to bring my car in Thursday to get a full diagnosis, probably an estimate on the DCCV.

Also it appears I am no longer dropping coolant unless I have just used the heat or air. And no white film or milky substance on my oil cap anymore, and I figure if it was something like a head gasket it wouldnt just correct itself and get worse instead?
