Another Motor Oil Thread

I've been running 5W30 in the wife's '97 LSC, 10W30 in my '96 (cuz it's got more miles), and 20W50 in my '94 Exploder with the 4.0L V-6. Given the conversations here, I think I'll switch to 5W20 in the Marks and...maybe...10W40 in the Exploder. It's only got 135K miles on it, holds good oil pressure, and runs great. So what the heck.

lol you should switch to a 5.0 in that exploder, use that 4.0 for a boat anchor! dont get me wrong some 4.0's are ok but most are not. if you got a pushrod 4.0 then your already a leg up than most if you got a 4.0 sohc well im sorry then ;)

Mine's a GEN1 square nose. It's got the pushrod version. It's not a bad motor. It's loud and rough, but pretty good on gas. Even with 4WD, I get 19+ mpg on the highway. And it uses no oil and runs great. I'd love to put a 5.0 in it. I've got an old 302 out of a '77 LTD sitting in the barn. But it's carbureted and probaly junk after sitting for 20+ years. I'd need an EFI setup for it. It would be nice though.

yeah the pushrods just keep going no how loud they are, im gettin 20mpg out of a bigger engine and awd (all the time, cant put the stock 5.0 into 2wd) power to weight ratio is everything
