Another dealership rant..

So i took my LS in for a safety inspection at the local dealership. Told them about the hesitation I was having and how my shifter will not go into D4. Mechanically is goes into the D4 slot, but the trans. doesnt change gear and the gauge cluster doesnt show that i put it in D4. Well when I go to pick up my car they tell me i have a missfire in Cyl. #2, so now I can procced with the coil fix. But then they tell me, "D4 is only there for show, its just there so that you can see where you COULD put it in." The guy then procceds to tell me he went to another car and tried to put it in D4 and that car didnt show it either. Well I was like whatever, and I went and looked in my manuel and it distinctally states in there that D4 is for gears 1-4 and that it is for heavy loads or hilly roads or whatever. Stupid guys, just cause I am 21 doesnt make me stupid. They are going to get an earfull today. argue2

ok, man, mine used to show the change to D4 but now doesnt. ill take it in and see what the idjits here have to say about it.

Call the Lincoln technichal assistance 800 line and complain, they will keep you on the phone, call your dealership and proceed to straighten them out. I actually did this for my sister once, she had a 98 Cobra and our local dealership denied our recall claime and gave us a hard time. After I called that 800 number and ford directly informed the dealership that I had a viable claim the dealership fixed it the very next day, no questions.

That guy should be fired! Call the Service Manager at the dealer and and the Customer Assistance 800 number listed in the back of your owners manual.

I would be surprised if it was the Service Manager that told the mechanic to say that.

Call the 800 number and don't take any Sh*t from the dealer

My old '02 did the same thing. Keep it in D5. And i think your overreacting to the dealership guy. He didnt cause the problem just isnt knowledgeable.

Well, I did call him back, but I didnt bitch him out or anything. I guess I am more upset that people that are supposed to be knowlegable about the cars cant give you real answer. But its all good, I am going to take LS4me's advice and eventually replace the shifter once I can find a good one on ebay or if someone on here has an extra one
