Sand blasted the top of the rusted bolts a bit,
shaved down the two most rear hold down bolts for the T stat.

I'd rather do a root canal, quicker and less painful.

It's in, cranked down on all corners evenly.
~ better not leak.

That's when you just replace them bolts with SS Socket Head Cap Screws ;)

Regardless of type of bolt/screws used there is so little room on the back two, it's stupid.
However designed this should be shot!

Doesn't it feel good to have a fresh new part in there though?

Good thing I don't do this for a living, customers would not appreciate a 9hr bill for swapping out a thermostat & housing.

Phew I'm exhausted and back is sore,
Pops here gonna have to have a little lay down for a while.
(46yrs old, waaayyyy past my afternoon nap) ... all that wrenching!?!?

ANOTHER USE FOR THE BRAKE BLEEDER, COOL!!! I am surprised you were able to use that all the way out, when I took my bolts out looked like when they were near the top they were very close to the intake and looked like nothing would fit all the way around the head, and god knows you cant get your 2 fingers from one hand over the bolt to turn by hand once loosened.

yeah it was not fun and although I cracked it, when I reached toward the top where it started to bump into the plastic housing of what ever that piece was, I eventually switched to a small open ended 5/16 wrench and some needle nose pliers. Like I said took a little while. I spend a lot of time cleaning parts and around it today just to make it look like I knew what I was doing.

There was also a couple of "oh crap "moments of "where did this Fn hose go again?"

Still haven't gotten to the DCCV or Aux. pump yet. Looks like a job for tomorrow.

oh and the motivational speeches I keep giving myself besides "I can do it!" is "Think of all the money I'm saving doing it myself".

BTW Nick, when I get through this nigthmare, I wouldn't mind learning from you how you got that Mach 1 chin spoiler on, from what I was seeing on the underneath side, if one removes the existing lip trim to fasten the Mach 1 in place, one would loose all ability to fasten the underneath skid plate and other plastics near the side wheel wells.

I was scratching my head on that for a bit figuring there had to be a way.
I'd rather not do without all the plastics left off in order to just have a Mach 1 chin spoiler.

I had seen a couple of threads on it, I can look into it some more.

I will be doing this after work today. Hopefully Matco swings by with that tool. I ordered it last Monday. Question.though would I need to swap thermostat gasket with the one that chines with the jag Kit?

This may be a dumb question, but does this apply/work for the Gen II? I know these plastic parts are problematic, just not sure if the Jag aluminum housing fits my 06 as well.

Does not work for gen II.

Me, myself and I, ended up buying a new OEM thermostat w/ gasket from the local dealership and I used it instead of the one that came with the Jag stat housing.

hehe

btw: the darn sun is out full force today, out comes the LS today.

My igloo home is melting, Nooooooo!

lol
