Alternator or voltage regulator?

ok I got the belt off and the plug on top. now I just cant get the alternator off. It seems like the radiator hose gets in the way but there has to be a way to remove it without removing the radiator hoses

It sounds like you might be trying to bring the alternator out towards the radiator? What I did on mine was lift it straight up and out. Moved the wires out of the way and it comes out easy. Hope this helps.

the radiator hose doesnt have to be touched. you just have to work around it.

If your alternator is going find a local shop that deals with automotive electronics. I had the local shop here fix my Mark's alt (a NAPA reman) for only $42. It's perfect now. Advance Auto "tested it" and said it was dead after i picked it up... shows what they know.
