this has been an ongoing problem with my car.... the freakin alarm goes off whenever it wants.. once it starts i can't get it to stop except to pull the alarm fuse inside the car.. if i put the fuse back in sometimes the alarm starts up again and sometimes it doesnt.. the dealership is no help.. they told me they cant do anything until it does it in front of them.. which can be up to a few months sometimes... or as little as a few hours apart..

anyone else with same problem??

removed my alarm module for the same reason.
i swapped mine out.. didnt have any problems for months.. then today. .. DAMN IT !!
ive done everything the dealership said would cause it.. disconnected hood pin, trunk pin, new battery terminals, new key fob, EVERYTHING

I disconnected it on my last Mark for that same reason.. It would even go off when I was driving!

It looked like condensation was building up in/on the blower motor case, then dripping onto the alarm module just below. Mine had evidence of water damage as well as corrosion in the connector.

if i replace the factory alarm with an after market.. the doorpad won't work... plus.. if i disconnect the factory.. it doesnt solve the original problem.. whatever is causing the voltage draw or whatever it is.. please help me!!??

EXACTLY what happened to mine. I also suspect it was a leak from under the front hood vent.

doorpad and alarm are not related. My doorpad and keyless entry work fine even though my alarm module is in a dumpster.

i believe what he means is he wont be able to use the keypad. most aftermarket alarms have a voltage sense. say the dor is opened... the dome light kicks on, causes a power draw and tripps the alarm.

you hit a button on the keypad, the module is active, the dome lights kick on, and it tripps the alarm. so i think thats what he is saying. if he gets an aftermarket alarm, then the door keypad is useless. which is the problem i am running into.

i believe som alarms you can disable this feature though.

...ditto....
disconnected my alarm for this reason.

The neighbor, who has to get up for work at 4:30 in the morning was very nice, but very upset at being interupted every other night by the screaming Lincoln parked outside.

Me, I had no idea...I couldn't hear it inside.

I remember takeing out a buzzer module, didn't really effect anything but the noise, might have just been seatbelt though...

Assuming it's a bad/damaged module (which seems to be common judging by this thread!) then you could easily swap it out with one from a junkyard. I'd recommend making some kind of drip shield for it, though.

i had this problem too.
my solution was in the key lock cyinder area,
there is a small metal tab under where the cylinder slides in,it gets wonky and starts thinking someone is trying to remove the cylinder to steal the car,i disabed my alarm for a fe wmonths til i got that part ceaned up and replaced the cylinder then reconnected the alarm and all has been good.

buzzer module? mine uses the horn.

I had the same problem with my 96 MK VIII. The alarm would go off at random. Just sittin in my driveway, it would go off for no reason. Alot of times, it would do it in the wee hours of the morning, like 3 & 4 AM. I would have to get up and go outside and turn it off. I don't know if this means anything but I was told my passenger door was misaligned and needed adjusting thus causing the alarm to activate. Never heard of a door causing the problem. Sold the 96 with the alarm problem still going on. My 94 has never done it. Hope you get it fixied!!!!!!

Thanks,

Jim

When i first got my lincoln it had the door ajar problem and would act like it was open, so if you set the alarm it would start going off thinking that the door was open. if its not latched properly it will set it off.

I think it was just Headlight/Seatbelt, warning chime module, I remember we had a bad door switch...

i do have a slight prob with my ignition .. sometimes i take the key out and it chimes as though i didnt.. i shake it for a sec then the chiming stops....
plus,.. sometimes when the alarm is going off... it kinda stops then flickers then goes back to honking away.. then flickers, stops for a sec.. then,, honk honk honk!!.. as if there is a loose connection..
and i already replaced the alarm module in the trunk.. the new one has a plastic shield around it . so thats not it i dont think

I have those same issues with my 93 and 95.. the 94 it hasn't shown up yet.

But my alarm would go off when I'd be doing something with the car. Then it wouldn't want to turn off.

if you are talking about the module in tha air ride switch door, that isnt an alarm module. thats the keyless module. the alarm module is behind the glove compartment. i believe its grey. at least mine is... 2 connectors going to it.

my ign. is the same way. i wonder if thats my problem. i always thought that metal piece was for the "key dinger" only.

so now i have that to test, and the trunk switch.

2 qs...

where is the trunk switch for the alarm?
can i just disconnect the wire in the ign?

thanks.

there are 2 metal pieces, one is door dinger ,one is antitheft.

i wonder if thats my problem.. but i always make sure the key chiming is off when i leave the car..

or.. since i just found out the alarm module is behind the glove box.. could water be leaking on that...

i also have a slight leak in my sunroof ..but can't imagine that being it since it does it sometimes on hot sunny days

where is the trunk switch for the alarm?

if your asking me about the trunk pin.. i am talking about the little light that goes on when the trunk is open.. dealership said they sometimes stay on when closed and causes a voltage draw triggering the alarm.. so i disconnected mine

plus... shouldn't the factory alarm turn off when the key is placed in the door or ignition??..

also.. i was told by the dealership that its actually the panic that is going off ...

WHY IS MY FR!CK'N CAR PANICKING !!!

where exactly is the alarm module located behind the glovebox... i see all sorts of modules with connectors going into them.. a black one, blue one, multi-colored ones??

it's a big yellow one, mounted on a steel bracket, and it's to the right of everything.
