Sometimes in the cold mornings (up in Ohio) when I turn my steering wheel a lot I'll hear a kind of "clang" sound coming from it, it sounds sort of like a spring/some kind of wire binding maybe? That is my guess.

So it was doing this strange noise in the cold for about 2 weeks now, once the car has been going a bit it goes away and doesn't come back till the next day.

Then yesterday, I get stuck in some snow a little and I'm rocking my way out, drive around a bit, and as I get back home all the sudden airbag light blinks a few times. I've read now about the 3-2 and 3-6, so I'll be watching for that.

But my question is do you guys think the sound I'm hearing from my steering wheel could be related to the clockspring? I have no idea what a clockspring actually is/does, but it has the word spring in it and that's what I think I'm hearing.

Thank you in advance.

yes - and likely the reason for the 3-2

the clockspring is just a plastic housing with a coiled ribbon cable inside of it. The ribbon cable is very stiff plastic and rubs on the inside of the housing, evenutally wearing through and then causing an open or shorting wtogether....
