air ride HELP!!!!!

Me The Destroyer :D

You guys aren't referencing the comment I made a while back in a post about pros and cons of the air vs coils are you? My opinion!?!?
That's cool, I have nothing negative to say about it unless someone asks. I am not going to say anything about some one 'destroying':D their car - especialy to you Mespock as you have me completely hypnotized by your avitar. I keep trying to focus on that thing.

I am currently replacing my air ride with new OEM compressor and bags. Hopefully karma doesn't come and bite me on the a$$.;)

Coils? I hope not.
That comercial (you know the one) is what made me fall in love with the Mark, back when i got my license that comercial came out and I said i'd own one some day. Love em' and mainly due to the air. No one else has it.:burnout:

I learned the hard way Kid to never say never.
I just haven't learned to keep my mouth shut!

ok here's a weird one, I had the car scanned, no codes come up, yet the "check air suspension" message is up at start up instantly....any takers????

That MIGHT be the air ride computer.
passenger side kick panel...

might see if you can pick up a junkyard replacement or borrow one from a friends car and see if it solves the issue.

If you were closer, we'd let you use one of ours..

Thanks man!!! Yea, we're def too far, if we were closer we prob would of traded those 10 spokes by now...lol..... I'm going to try that, I didn't want to take anything from the other cars since they're working trouble free, but i just may. Saturday is going to be nice here, I'll prob head to the yard...get there for 9am when they open and pick one up. Hopefully that'll do the trick. Saturday will be mark viii day....air ride fix, clock spring and dorr handle fix......hopefully there will be enough hours in the day!!

yea so I switched the module out of my other 94.....no such luck.....i spent all day saturday playing with wires and what not and no luck......so its coming down to it.....do I take it somewhere and pay $300 to have them fix an old air ride system or do I do the conversion and have brand new parts??????????? I'm thinking coils

rich it does sound like you've done your best.

the question/answer is really up to you.

AT THIS point.. I wouldn't "beat you up" for going to coils.

yea, I would much rather keep the air ride, but i can only do so much.....my mark was a $1200 mark with 130k on it when i got it.......now it has 142k and with the exhaust and mods i have maybe another $400 into it.....if it were a nicer, more valuable car or had less miles, I'd get the air ride fixed.....but it isn't so i think the coils are the way for me to go....i've been looking all day......we'll see what i come up with....thank you everyone for all of your help!!

If you are broke and want to go uber cheap you could scavenge some Tbird struts and coils used... I did it for a friend.

will they bolt right up??? there is a 93 SC in the yard.....can i just take the coils and struts off of that and bolt them on?? in the front that is

Have you gotten your battery and charge system and grounds up to par? If not you will be chasing your tail. Just as a reminder it takes 3 cycles to usually fill bags that have been all aired out, as the compressor will time out before they fill. Also I have found that some sensors need to be off their limits some to repond properly so I use a little bit of lift on the body via a jack in the center of the cross member to achieve this.

+1 I had that exact sceanrio occur.
Instant "check air ride" when the car was slammed, but jacking it up a bit let the system work.

i dont get all these members saying the system needs to cycle multiple times (im not just referring to roadboss, others, in some other threads have stated this) mine has always done it in one cycle. one stock compressor, stock vent, just a ray's switch it took 85 sec from a full drop to raised height (just before it times out), now with the twins i got it down to 45~ish :D
