So today I go to my car - air ride has been off for about 24 hours, and its perfectly fine... I get in, and nothing happens!??! No drop, no click, no hiss.. NOTHING... then I realized NOTHING was happening at all.. the battery was dead! I am not sure if it indeed was that shorted speaker but I had put that fuse back on Sunday, and the car started up fine each time since then... Last night however I pushed the keypad, the interior and puddle lights lit up and I wonder if they never shut off or something, or maybe the door sensor was saying open... who knows.

Anyways - no power = no sensor telling my car to drop. Does this make sense?? Now what the Fugg do I do!?

Leaky bags could be killing your battery as the compressor comes on to try and keep it level while at park.

The air ride switch off causes it not to drop cause the unit aint on to read the sensor..... which is a bad sensor BTW. As to the power issue....... speaker aint gonna cause that, I dont care what anyone says. Anyone here comes and says "Oh your shorted speaker killed your battery" and I will go to wherever they are and kick then square in teh nuts!
Battery is prolly on its way out. If not then you left a glove box open or something.... even though I am pretty sure those time out. You sure you flipped the air ride switch off?

:rolleyes:Shorted speaker could be it  Sorry I had to laser. I will pm you my address. When you shut the car and everything off put a volt meter on the battery and see if you have a drain. And if you do figure out what's on Kill it. Don't really kill it. It sounds dead on like you have a bad sensor. But it sounds like you have a parisitic loss somewhere also now. And laser is rightthe speaker is nothing.

Speaker, no. Keypad, no. Air-ride, no.

Well speaker of course not (as mentioned). The key pad would no, could not. The power saver kicks in. You can even leave your dome lights on manually and after 45 minutes it will disable power to lights, keypad, etc. Heck, you can even leave the door open and the system will kill it. Air-ride also only functions for about 45 minutes after the car is shut off and it will continue to level. But unless you have a major leak, it will not run enough to drain the battery.

Sounds like the key was left inside in the on position - or bad bar (again, as mentioned).

No No and NO.
These car a extremely picky.

If this was my car.
1) Fully charge the Batt. and make sure it holds its charge out of the car.
Replace if there is any issue.
2) Install Batt. and make sure alternator is pushing 14 plus amps
If it wont....call Max and get a alternator.

Your message center defaulting to Jan 1st tells me you charging system needs looking at.

You know - the battery is an energizer and it seems to be doing well.. Computer always says Battery/Voltage is OK - I am POSITIVE the Air-ride is off.. I checked it again this morning and it was still same height. I climbed in.. shook it, leaned, and nothing - so bags are good I think.

I thought maybe the door sensor was acting up and left the interior lights on all night. Maybe when I bring it to ford for the recall I can bring it back and say they :q:q:q:qed up everything :)

You can maybe all you want....simple fact is the interior lights will not stay on all night...even if you leave the door open....re read post # 5 unity explains this....do not trust the message center to tell you your charging system is working right.

Check the Batt. just don't assume its ok, if you don't know how bring the car to vatozone or batt. plus. they will check it out for you no cost.

If your bags didn't leak down that's good you can re-visit your air ride thread on what to do next.

I would leave the air ride off and worry about later after I had this problem fixed.

This car will strand you the way it is now, hope you have some good walking shoes.

With air-ride off tho will I have any issues or will it just not lower/raise?

Ill take it to autozone tonight and figure out what is up with it. I have a new battery (silver autocraft :q:q:q:q) from autozone in my mustang - I should just swap it out, but the energizer made me feel so... at ease LOL its supposed to keep going and going and going =/

If its not the Battery or Alt, then what could it be!?!? My radio presets stay, if that makes any sense - Any harm in waiting for the recall to be performed and then blaming Ford for the headaches?

Air ride off should not cause you any issues.

Good luck blaming ford....its your car just fix it, then you can enjoy it.

These cars are a blast to own and drive, but they are like having a high maintenance girlfriend or worse wife.

ahah - just what I needed!!

Well.. help me here - if I find out its not the battery, and not the alt.. what else could it be?

And the voltage warning on the computer wont warn you till the voltage is at 9 volts. Ask me how I know. :p

Hell if I know..... it could be a power drain as 1bad4.6l suggested.
Just check the simple stuff first.
Its not uncommon on these cars for the alt. to eat chit taking the batt. along for the ride.

Did you get the purdy dash light show before the car stranded you? :D

I have one of these.
I was told they are a must if you own a Mark VIII

x2...i learned the hard way any charging issue i may think i have i always grab my multimeter and make sure im charging right at the battery

Im gonna get the batt and alt checked tonight - although I think the fact the battery is from 4/05 might have soemthing to do with it - also the light my buddy attached in the trunk that may have obviously been disconnected for a reason. Ill give it a shot and try for the best... Worst case I ill throw the other batt from the Stang in (if its not the alt)

Trunk light, thats a new one. I have NO idea on that one. Probably not hooked up to power sentry. So climb in trunk and have someone close it. Someone you trust. And see if it goes out.

Or just close it almost all the way and look inside. By the way, it does have a switch on it to disable it versus unplugging.

Go theory though, old batt could go dead with that trunk light.

And to answer air-ride questions. With the switch off the compressor and vents are dead. So if you have a leak the car will start to slam to the ground as you drive it until its dragging on its stops. Leaks happen in folds of the bags and sorta self-seal, but when in motion the bags expose the leaks and air gets out. So they may appear to be ok sitting all night, week or even month. But if the car slams when driving - you have a leak.

I am gonna bet 40 cookies battery is like a rabbit shot with a 12 gauge. Get an Interstate BIG GREEN BATTERY FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

This does it within a minute of sitting in it.. Ic an sit in, and get out and I hear "click....HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" until the thing is a lowrider... I just dont get it :( I need to get it up on some lifts and spray with soapy water.. but then, how do I know if its got a leak unless I drive it..and I obviously cant drive it and lay on a skatebaord staring at the undercarriage

A click and a hissssssssssssssssss... sounds like the vent solenoid is sticking open. However the bags should close so it should not flat out.

Unless, as mentioned way back, a sensor is bad. Guess we need to start from the top about air-ride.

So I put a new battery in 850 cranking amps - 1000 at 32 degrees!! Car starts right up! Still defaults to Jan 1, but autoZone said my alt was fine... Just dunno guys lol
