Air Ride Direction

I'm fixing up a '97 that I've been having for a while. The "Check Air Ride" light comes on when your dring down the road. but it levels off when you start up. I know at about 50 to 55 the cars drops one inch and all that then it rises back up. The confusing thing is the car never falls to to the ground at all not even over night... This is what i'm pin pointing... I have "3 new" bags i bought all 3, three years ago they might have about 20k mi or less and i have one old bag in the front. the bag does not leak but i think the hydraulics may be bad in that bag. I'm thinking this because i changed my upper control arms for the new bag in the front i had to let the air out that bag to get the bolts out for the upper control arm. on the other side i didn't all i had to do was move it out the way. The solenoids may need to be changed also. i think can be an electronic thing also. maybe it's the ride height sensors. Maybe i need to match that new bag on the other side. I need help.
 
the leak isn't leaking at "parked" height, which IS the same height as "hiway height".
BUT.. sitting overnight the bag isn't being compressed and expanded like it is going down the highway.

regardless of the age, or where you got the bags.. you definatley still have a leak.
 
do anyone knows the entire job of the solenoid besides the point of letting air in and out?? maybe it records psi to the ride control module. or in partial the ride height sensor figures that out based on the height of the car.

the solenoid does
lets air into the bag
lets air out of the bag
keeps air IN the bag

there are 3 sensors
two front
1 rear
the system "averages" the front height to determine how much to raise or lower the rear.

I still think you have a leaking bag.. and I agree the hydraulics are toast in your 4th non replaced strut
 
cool i'ma order that front bag and the solenoid and see what happens. can't see the other bags being bad. next thing will be change the other 3 solenoids.
 
Go let the car drop to parked height and then turn off the air ride, then see how long it takes to drop down. That will tell you if you have a leaky bag or not 100%
 
many times just removing the solenoid and replacing it requires the orings to be replaced.

but a leaking solenoid would leak all the time regardless of height.
the ONLY height related failure is a leak.

Replace the bag now, before you kill your compressor.

OR..start the car, let it jack itself up.. open the door but do not close it.
open the trunk and turn off the air ride switch
now you have the air ride disabled at the highest setting.

now go drive the car, with the air ride turned off.
If it "doesnt slam" or leak down, then you have bought yourself "a little" time.
do not procrastinate, the pumps die quickly when overworked.

this will confirm if you have a leaking bag.. for sure.
but you should go "drive the car" so you can see when the front or rear drops
 
the car never slams unless i have it sitting in garage for like a month so ima change the bag and the solenoid, the new solenoid comes with o-rings so i should be fine.
 
oh ok i thought it would slam after a month lol. hell i thought it was natural. I've had 3 marks and they always slammed after sitting up for at least a month plus. but i never had 4 fresh bags either.
