I have a 97 mark how hard is it to replace the air ride compressor mine started making a sound like it was straining and dimming the lights while trying to run i think it might have gone bad can some one help with this

Not very easy, but not a blackout. Without removing the bumper it's a little tricky, but can be done. If you're not afraid to remove bumper - it's quite easy then.
According to sound effects, th compressor motor is stalled (itself or by compressor).

yea it sounds like it cant turn over or its jammed up
If it's like the Gen1, it's very simple to do with, without removing the bumper.
Just remove that air snorkle under the air filter, and the wheel liner.
After that, you can swap them in under a half hour, easy.
