just wondering if most people are gutting their stock airboxes and removing the silencer? or using a cone filter with the maf adaptor. im not too sure on the performance difference if any. any feedback?

The first time you have to go into change out your air suspension compressor you will soon ditch the snorkle. I kept my air box with a stock filter on my DD.

You will not gain any power by removing the stock airbox and switching it for a cone...

Modifying the intake is more of a sound mod than anything....

Yeah rip that bad boy under the fender out. You'll appreciate the growl on the highway. Also if you're gonna wanna keep the airbox you can 'drill' the back of it to allow air to come in from behind the headlight. I cut a huge hole in mine, then I ditched it for a conical. Didn't notice a change on mpg or power, just sound. Also ditch the resonator on the top of the intake tube for a 1 1/2" quickcap from home depot, or if you wanna go over the tube dremel that and the 'elephant ear' off thats right below it and fill it in however you'd like.

Hope this helps.

thanks rev. i saw that. im lookin for cheaper stuff right now. just bought the car. funds are tight right now. lol

its a gen 2, our intake tube doesnt have all those lungs all over it, but yeah ditch the silencer in the fender/bumper cover

If your broke just yank out the silencer in the fender and then drill holes in the airbox lid... it will sound just ass good.

Bolting on that cone filter will do nothing for your car... just make the intake louder.

i have a 9" k&n cone sitting in front of me now. 4" neck. just wondering if that adaptor is 4" or not. if not, i need to find one...

I cut a oval hole in mine as I did not want to drill a bunch of holes:eek: I had a cone on the car when I first bought it, I tossed that thing in the trash. All it did was suck up hot air from the engine compartment.
