I am new to the forums (Hi fellow LS owners!) and drive a 2003 LS V8 I've owned for about 3 years now. Just had a quick question because I'm about to replace my stock head unit since the CD player has had errors ever since I bought the car.

Anyone have any issues with mounting depth on any aftermarket units in getting them into the dash? The head unit I'm looking at has a depth of 7.0" and then the RCA cables and wiring harnesses/bundle would jut straight out the back about another inch at least. Can anyone say whether they have had any issues getting a head unit to fit or am I being a nervous nelly?

TIA- and again, glad to be a poster finally (been lurking a long long time)

It's definitely a tight fit. I've got an Avic Z2 (don't know what the depth is), and when installing it, I had to tuck wires and RCA connectors into every nook and cranny I could find. If yours is close to the same depth, it will fit. But you'll have to move everything when sliding it back into place to provide as much room as possible....

Good luck

Thanks. It appears both yours and mine have a 7" Chassis depth (going by hardware manuals from pioneerelectronics.com) Yours is Double-DIN and mine will be single DIN. My cables that I had from a previous install are Monster Cables with a pretty beefy RCA plug so I may end up having to swap those out maybe with some right-angle RCA's or somethin'.

I'm getting the Pioneer DEH-80PRS. Looking cheap is not my concern. Sounding amazing is my concern. Unless you can point me to a Double-DIN with 5+V pre-outs, 24-bit DACs and 3-way active crossover, stereo 16-band graphic eq, etc. :) If you can, I'd like to read up on it :)

The marketing people really have you hooked don't they...

Yep. Not really. marketing has nothing to do with the validity of these functions.
