Just got my Lincoln yesterday and I'm trying to put an aftermarket radio on it. I have all the speaker wires connected and am trying to figure out how to do the power wires since the Lincoln has so many wires..I had it configured to where when I cut the car on the radio would make a noise like the cd player was turning, yet the radio would not cut on. My after market radio is a sony cdx gt360mp with the acc + wire being red and battery + wire being yellow. The lincoln wire has a GY/OG wire (volage, ignition switch in start), OG/BK wire (voltage supplied at all times), and YE/GN (voltage, ignition switch in accessory or run). I can not figure out how to get it working! please help!!!

I hope you didn't cut the factor harness!

I recently did mine and used the schosche fdk13b harness which I ordered from Amazon.
This worked perfectly. You can call Schosche and verify the harness you need for you specific make. This will make the install very easy.

**** i did..but its like working kind of..I mean the cd player makes a sound and accepts cds, yet it will not play music or show the screen

Don't use the gray/orange wire. It was just there to mute the factory radio while starting the engine.
The orange/black wire should go to aftermarket yellow.
The yellow/green wire should go to aftermarket red.
Make sure you have a good ground connection. I can look up the factory color for that later.

That's how I have it and it isn't working. theres that other harness with a bunch of wires..do I need to use that too?

How about a little info on your LS? (You know, they're not all the same.)

Which year?
Which factory sound system? (Headunit, number of speakers, ...)

Headunits: cassette, in-dash 6 cd, external cd changer, THX navigation, ...

Speakers: 8 speaker system, 10 speaker system, 10 speaker THX systems, 12 speaker system.

Anyway, either you don't have it that way, a wire is loose, a fuse is blown, the ground is bad, or the aftermarket unit is bad.

when you cut the harness off, did you cut all of the wires at the same time?

The FIRST rule installing stereos is NOT cutting the factory harness!!

Unless you have the THX Nav system, right? I don't think they have an adapter that plugs into those harnesses?

I'd like to make sure as I'm planning on putting my old AVIC into my '06 and I remember Andrizzle's old install thread that I thought said there weren't aftermarket adapters. Unless they've come out with them since then?

AFAIK, there are no correct ones. However, there is still no need to cut the factory harness. The incorrect adapter still physically fits. You can cut the ends of the wires on it and splice in the RCA plugs and such that you will need. You'd have to splice them into the factory harness, so why no spend $5 more and not have to cut into the factory harness?

I don't want to Hijack but I'm installing a Kenwood DNX9990 right now as well..

I've run into a few problems..

First of all... WHAT STEREO DO I HAVE???!!! I have searched, and searched, and searched, and searched some more...

MY car has the factory alpine CASSETTE with the 6 disc changer mounted in the glovebox.. What system is this considered to be? It also has the center console speakers, door, and rear deck speakers, and a small amp mounted on the bottom of the rear deck.

So far as I can tell, the correct harness is a BHA-5700 or a metra 70-5700.

Also, I'm installing a PAC SWI-RC, BUT, the instructions keep showing a 20 pin connector which is NOT correct, and no matter what options I put in, doesn't show the connector that I actually have.

Any help would be appreciated.. I can make my own thread, but then I'll just get bitched at for not searching enough..

screw it, im going to bed, if it is an 03, then follow the directions for a one year older car. the early production 03's still used the older 98 -02 harness while sometime mid year they switched to the new 03 and up harness.

Sorry, I haven't made a sig or anything yet..

My car is an 02. I got it working. I'm still looking for the Low pass crossover in the deck. I definitely want to get my center console speakers so I'll have to follow the guide posted in another double din installation thread I found.
This install was definitely a pain in the ass.
