At low speed, parking lots, my brake pedal would go all the way to the floor. Then the CHECK ADNACETRAC light would light up. This happened every now and then but not always. I took my car to get looked at(brake check) and they told me the master cylinder was leaking and needed to be replaced. I said okay and had it changed($430 repair). Unfortunately I didn't pick up the car myself, I had my dad go get it while i was at work. I turn on the car and immediately the advacetrac light appears. Why? Should I just take it to ford? I already disconnected the battery and the light still came on. Thanks

Just had bought 4 new tires for the ls a few weeks ago($500+) and now this :(

My advance trac light came on after a PCM update. The dealer had to update the software for the advance trac too. Hopefully someone else knows more.

Does your ABS light also come on?

Both my traction control light and ABS light come on. I took it to my cousins tire shop and they hooked it up to there machine and found two codes. One for my ABS hydraulic pump and one for the control module. I was told to replace my control module and this should fix both codes.

Hope this helps you in some way.

No, my abs light is not on... I took my car to ford and they told me that it was possibly a faulty control unit. That even if replaced that it may not fix the issue. Never has the ls cost me this much in repairs/maintenance. 550 for tires, 450 for master cylinder and ford tells me 1100 to replace the control unit. I've had my car since 05 but i think its time to move on.

Does the pedal still drop to the floor?

What specific codes are being reported?

Tires are a wear and tear item. Think of it this way, it cost you $550 to stick to the road, instead of hydroplaning into the ditch and dying.

You could go back to the 1st mechanic and have them at least diagnose it for free.

No, pedal hasn't gone to the floor anymore. I only have a CHECK ADVANCETRAC light. The first shop only works on brakes and they were the ones that said to take it to ford. I guess if the light isn't a big issue then I'll just drive it like that.

Top causes for AdvanceTrac light on without ABS light on:

1. Steering wheel angle sensor.
2. YAW sensor.
3. Calibration/recalibration needed.

Thanks joegr. I'll take it to another shop although ford should've known exactly what was wrong... I also have the airbag light on but thats been on for a couple of years now. I had it replaced but it just crapped out about a year and a half later so I jut left it like that.

Joegr, Hey i just got my Lincoln Ls from the dealership and i am still having issues, they have replaced my steering wheel angle sensor, yaw sensors, I am not sure if they did the recalibrated was needed. It seems after 1 or 2 days driving it from the shop the advance trac light comes on and stays on ?. this will be my 3rd time taking it back to the dealer, they did mention that they replaced some coils that mayb be triggering the Advancetrac light to come on. I am not sure whats going on but this advancetrac light will not go away after they replaced the sensors ?

I'd say that if you paid them to fix this problem, take it back and get them to take another shot at it. Explain, nicely, that this should be at their expense at this point and that a loaner would be good.

What are the codes that they are getting now?
Do you have a high powered aftermarket sound system?

I ask them about the codes and let you know when I get back to the dealer, but believe me joegr they can have many shots at it, I have an extended premium care warranty in which I only had to pay a 100 bucks, so I already paid the 100 deductible on it and the problem still persist, but I have no high Powered sound system it is all factory?

Mine just came on last night as well. I was driving and the dash message showed up with the advance track light on the dash now. The brakes are fine, and the ABS light isnt on. NOT looking forward to trying to figure this out. I guess I'll take it to the parts store to see what the codes are.
My airbag light has been on for a couple years now. There is a wire under the driver seat that broke. Haven't gotten under there to splice it back together. Apparently, the constant movement of the seat broke the wire.

The car is stock as well.

You should get after that wire. Your airbags won't work at all until you get the light turned off.

not as worried about the airbags. more worried about the advancetrac issues as im not sure how it affects the vehicle.

My experience with my Advancetrack icon on the dash being on the last 3-4years is; unless the button on the console is lit, which means Advancetrack is off, the system will still work as designed. It has worked the same with Advancetrack icon lit on the dash as it did when the light and message weren't there.
Experiences may differ. Go out and try and activate it and see what happens.

Thanks, I'll have to try it out on my driveway. it usually kicks in for a sec when I pull out too fast. (gravel)

I think that you are confusing the traction control function of the AdvanceTrac with the full AdvanceTrac function. If the steering wheel angle sensor or the yaw sensor has a problem, then AdvanceTrac is disabled, but traction control will still work.

That will test traction control only. To test the rest of the AdvanceTrac function, you would have to take a turn too fast. That's probably a test that you don't want to run.

Hey Joegr, I got and update on my Lincoln Ls 2004 man I have taken to car back the dealership for the 6th time. It seems like these guys cant get it right or this car is the car from hell and giving me grief.

It is back at the dealership the advancetrac lights still keeps coming on saying "check advance trac". These master technicians at the dealership have change the yaw sensor, the steering wheel angle sensor and they told me that the harness on the sensors seem to be not wired and matching correctly, so they corrected that.

They did all that and the light still came on , but it only seems to act up and come on after about 200 to 300 miles driven, or after a few days of driving the car that is when the "check advancetrac" lights comes on and stays on ??? I am clueless. it is back in the shop as I am writing you.

Wow. I wonder if they have correctly calibrated it?

After Lincoln replaced my '06's yaw sensor, the Check AdvanceTrac warning came back. They diagnosed it as a problem with one of the wires in the yaw sensor harness being too short (maybe it had gotten pushed back out of the connector?). After they fixed that, I've had occasional Check AdvanceTrac warnings, but nothing a restart wouldn't fix.
