The lower half of my seats cool very well, but the back portion does not. Someone mentioned replacing the filters. Has anyone done this? How hard are they to access?

Thanks!

I didnt know anything could be done!

I would be interested in this as well, my driver side barely starts to cool the back after 20 minutes...the passenger side starts working and cools the whole back and bottom in like 3-5 (probably from less use?)

Found the motorcraft filter at oreilly for $15. Thanks!

sorry to jack your thread 03linls

but im wondering if anybody can tell me if this is dirty? I mean what is dirty? I can see light through it, so its probably still fine, right?

Yep, that's dirty. Clean would be white.
I think that the problem is not as much that the filter is dirty and clogged as it is that the filter is dirty and now dirt is getting past it. The thermal modules have very fine fins on them and once those get coated with dirt, there will be much less heat transfer than there is supposed to be.

You can run the seat for a few minutes without the filter to see if it makes a difference. If it works better without the filter, then you just need a new filter. If it doesn't, then you need a new filter and you need to clean the modules (or the duct to the seat back is loose and leaking).

Below is a picture on one of the two modules. The part with the label on it is the thermal module.

Hey Joe in the prior thread you stated you order a bunch at a time from "Max." Any idea where I can get these, online every site I find has em for 6-12 bucks with about $15 in shipping. Seems ridiculous. Maybe you know of someone who sells em for around the same price, but offers em with free shipping?

I really wish I did, but I don't.

I read on the other thread about someone rinsing theirs out, maybe it was you? Now that i see the filter up close, $15.99 seems a bit overpriced lol. Should be two for $15!

(maybe im just cheap)

At any rate i can rinse it out, see what happens and worse comes to worse buy a new one anyway.
