I just changed the DCCV yesterday using tireman's 17 step guideline. It went well enough. However, when I went for the test drive it overheated, luckily I was just around the corner from my parent's house so I went there. Got out, looked under the hood, and saw that I'd left one of the hose clamps loose, walked home and got the necessary tools to be able to get to it and fixed that.

On the second test drive it worked flawlessly until I noticed I was starting to fog the windows so I went to hit it with the defrost and now no heat. It was I had heat and no AC so now I have AC and no heat, oh well its summer in Arkansas, dont really need heat.

Today I took it out to see how it would perform in the heat of the day. Not so well, it went back to being just heat or so I thought. It's speed related. When I got home I noticed that it was blowing cold air again so I sat in the driveway for a few minutes and it just got colder, so I decided to drive around the block. As I got going the heat came back, as I slowed to stop the cold air came back.

Now I don't know what to do. I guess it's time to get searching.

Maybe it's the aux pump. I'm just throwing it out there. I've heard that causes problems too, but I'm not sure what the symptoms are.

Thanks for the input, I'll start to look in that direction.

Nope, wouldn't be the aux pump, V6's haven't got one.

My dad suggested that when I bled the system, I didn't get all the air out, so I started to bleed the system again, and guess what, he's at least partially right. It did have some more air trapped in the system. But, I can't seem to get it to quit burping. I let it idle and burp and do it's thing, but it seems to shut off the flow when the engine gets hot and nothing comes out. When it's burping I can feel the heat of the air coming out, but when its not burping I can't feel any heat flowing from it.

Any ideas? Is this normal? How long should this take? It usually take 1-1.5 hrs to stop flowing all together. If I can't get this thing to quit burping by Saturday, I'm gonna take it to the dealer on Monday.

When I did mine (02 LS8) I was amazed at how long it took to bleed the system. After I thought I had it bled I went on a test drive and it got hotter than normal, so I bled it some more, and some more, and more that night. I would say 2-3 hours at idle or fast idle to bleed it out. Also the first couple of times I tried my AC it didnt work. I got hot air like I used to. I think I disconnected the battery for a while and tried it again and after a few restarts evertyhing was normal. These cars can be wierd. When I replaced a bad coil my cruise controll went on the fritz for about 2 days. When i put in my stereo the climate system thought the ext temp was like 0 degrees, so my AC compressor would not run. Everything normaled out with time though.

Yeah, things usually do normal out with time. Thanks for the input.

Are you bleeding the coolant system properly? Are you opening the heater bleed valve up by the brake master cylinder? I find the LS very easy to bleed and I think most people don't understand how the system works? Air WILL be trapped if you do not use the heater bleed valve and properly purge the air.

wow! mine is doing the same thing, except when I accelerate my a/c gets colder. when i'm idling or at a light, the a/c temp doesn't blow as cold

Yes, I am following the insturctions posted by QuikLS in the Tech Section. If those are wrong; may God have mercy on our souls.
