Abs?

i want to disable my abs because i keep having problems with it. what's the best thing to do if it even matters, pull the fuse or disconnect the abs sensors?
 
I would pull the fuse or relay. That will also take out traction control. What problems are you having, its a pretty basic system.
 
well every once in awhile coming up to a stop or just under normal breaking conditions it will kick in and the pedal starts pushing back at me and i can't stop. also it will not lock up the front brakes, like when trying to do a brake stand for instance.

Ah. Well odds are a sensor is dirty. They are magnetic and pick up a LOT of metal rust. Easy to clean. As for brake stands, I guess you would have to find a way to disable it. ABS is one of those things that works when you dont realize it, disabling it for good may not be the best idea. Maybe putting in a kill switch would work?
 
i don't have a manual or anything, would you happen to know which fuse it is for the abs?
 
well mine is a '95 so the manual didn't help much. the fuses are in different locations than shown on there. but thanks. and not finding anything helpful under the search.
 
Ok. This may be the easiest way to go. In the engine bay there is a relay box. Open it up. Look for the tan diode, it looks like solid plastic. Now to the opposite side you see the little black boxes, those are relays. Right across from the diode is #1. Pull out #4.

In case you want to know:
#1 Park LP Auto
#2 R/L Auto Relay (I think)
#3 Horn
#4 ABS
#5 Fuel Pump

Except he has a 95. Although the relays may be the same, he was looking at the dash fuses.
