Let me explain a little Econ 101 to you…
Redistribution of wealth does nothing to help the poor. The only thing that will help the poor is to create lots of jobs in this country so that poor people have hope for the future through work, not through welfare. This will then motivate them to go to and stay in school.
If you simply “spread the wealth” by redistributing it through the government, you create a viscious cycle that is very difficult to break. That’s why welfare reform was a plus for this country during Clinton’s administration. He stopped giving people as many handouts and got more of them back to work.
When you raise taxes on businesses and investors, it sets up a cycle of economic failure. First, the increased cost for taxes will cause the business to cut back on new investments to make the business grow–so fewer new jobs. With fewer new jobs, you have fewer people paying taxes so the government AND ALL people have less money to spend. If people can’t spend more money, then the businesses get hit again because they lose sales–which means less revenue for investment and fewer jobs.
In other words, the socialist’s redistribution of wealth via tax increases on businesses and investors will DOOM us to economic stagnation, at best, and likely a severe depression. You are right that we currently have entitlement programs but do you REALLY think they are contributing as much to helping the poor as a vibrant, growing economy would? Get real.
