I had this idea today. I would like to remove the strips on the doors and side fenders. Has enyone done this? From looking at it, I think it would leave a cool, clean looking groove there. What is behind the strip? Is it just glued on there, or would there be ugly holes behind it if I took it off? I have seen this done on some pontiacs, liked the look, and would like to do it to my LS.

One a side note: My liscence plate lights keep poping down. How should I keep them suckers up there?

If your talking about the side molding (strips?) there has been pictures on here of cars with those removed. It does give it a different look, but if you ask me your just looking for little door dings which will give you a worse look than with the molding. Its actually functional to avoid dents by idiots in parking lots. But if your intent on removing them just use some high strength fishing line and slide it behind it.

Hmmmm... dint think of that. thanx for the imput. I always park way out in the parking lots to avoid careless idiots, but yea, the strips would look better then dings.

Good find Fla02LS, but as you can see (northstar11) in the last picture of Florida's find there are 2 little holes under the strip on the front door.

I did this to my car and it's like night and day. As for the dents, The odds of the strip doing any protecting is slim to none

for your license plate lights. i have had to change mine. buy everything the black plastic piece with the lense in it. if the clips on the side are broke u need a new one unless u wanna glue it. on the other hand from the dealer those black plastic piece with the lense cost 33 dollars i'm prettysure. pretty much a rip off but its the only way to get new one

How did you take them off? I want to make shure i dont scratch enything. What did you to with the two little holes that are supposedly behind there.
I have the 00V8.

Thanx for the tip, eastcoast. Think thats what I'm going to need to do.

not to bring back an old thread but does anyone have pics of it removed besides that 1 guy who just completelyy changed his LS...his shows the sides flat but when u remove this panal does it leave an indent in the sides or does it actually leave it flat along the side of the door? anyone with pics of it rite after they removed the panel without any other work done?

there are channels where the trim sits in - you would have to fill those in if you wanted a completely flat look.

there is a green one on cardomain with bags and custom paint who did exactly what ur lookin for here

take a look at my pics side markers are filled in and mouldings and door handles are shaved as well. i should have pics of my suicides in the next few weeks.
