sup everyone..

i have a problem..couple weeks ago i was driven for an interview for a job and half way there i noticed smoke was coming out of my engine (A/C was running) i turned off the a/c and pulled over shut off my car and went to see where the smoke was coming from but couldn't tell...couple weeks passed by...and just today i was driven to work..and i turned on my a/c and i smelled like something was burning ..i pulled over and opened the hood A/C was running this time and i saw smoke coming from the sides where the coils are located..im not sure if that's where it is coming from i think its even lower down the engine..my temp of the car is normal everything is normal on the dash and the computer ..but the smoke is coming out and it smells like rubber is burning..

anyone have this happen to them ?
what could it be ?

thanks for reading

Not much info to go on.

I would suspect from what you said that your serpentine belt is slipping over a sticky/stuck pulley. Look at your belt closely under a light and see if it is cracking and shiny and breaking down.

o ok ill take a look later on the day thanks

little update to this problem
1 not fixed yet
2 i went to get my oil changed and i asked the guy if he wouldn't mind checking it out for me and he did ..he said some part inside the car is causing it i forget what the part was but he said its going to cost me $780.00 to get it fixed and that the part is licking and its inside the dash.and its the part that gives heat ..i really wish i could remember what the part was but i forget.but yeah its going to cost $780 parts/labor and its going to take up to 2 days..im not going to fix it yet cuz its alot of money..i still haven't done my coils.cash problems..but yeah =/

Your serpentine belt is slipping. Honestly I would change that and the belt tensioner first. The heater core is what makes heat inside the dash, but that wouldn't make a burning rubber smell under the hood if it was bad.

Is the A/C blowing cold, and/or functioning normally?

yeah everything is blowing normally hot and cold

yeah ill see how much the part/labor will be for that and do that first and see what happens winter is coming up soon so i really need to fix it to have heat in the car

yeah i have heat its just when i turn it on the smell of burning rubber comes and smoke from the hood

Little Update..
now i have no heat and all its doing is blowing cold air
and i found out its the heater core and not the belt i had
some free time last night and went to the bar with some friends
and the security guy works on cars and one thing to the other he was
looking at my car lol and yeah the belt looks fine so it couldn't be that
he said him self it could be the heater core...

if it is ..$$700.00 is to high anyone else have/had this problem and any way of getting it done cheaper i know the whole dash has to come out and stuff..and its alot of work

Heater core failures in these cars is very rare, but DCCV failures are very common. It doesn't sound like you've tested the core or the DCCV.

Its probably the heat pump that is malfunctioning. I I heard they can be espensive to replace.

I assume that was a joke. You should've pointed that out, as there may be some who don't realize that the LS (or any other car) doesn't have a heat pump (Other than the AC that is used only for cooling.).

I've seen quite a few climate control problems in these forums. More than 90% of them have been caused by bad DCCV's.
