I have a 2000 lincon ls v6. The A/C & heater blows cooler/hotter on the driver side vs. the passenger side What could be wrong with it?

I also am having another problem with the A/C. After my secondary mechanic vaccumed out the system and re-charged it with freon to the lincon ls specs. It will blow really freakin' cold as the car sits at a stand still (just parked idling, or if the redlight is longer than a couple minutes). But just as soon as i press the gas you feel it get warmer like i have the heater on. Now i took it to my main mechanic that never steered me wrong before said it was the "A/C & HEATER control" and that he has to replace it and found one for $250 (used) cause a new one will be at least $400. Now i wonder if he's right? Has anyone here ever have this problem that could help me out?

I would really appreciate it. :)

So, I looked up the DVVC. Andi wonder if the DVVC is that whole peice that the radiator hoses lead to or is it just a peice in side of it? Or can i order the whole thing?

AS A SIDE NOTE: I recently replaced (myself) and not knowing anything about the LS i did NOT bleed the system after replacing the radiator and adding new coolent. I did not know there was a bleeding tube i could bleed the system through. Now with that being said, would that have anything to do with this problem that im having?

Your problem is the DCCV.
Replace it and you should be good.
It is not very expensive.
There are many many many threads on it. Do we really need another one?

...and if you do really need the control module (which you don't) they go on ebay for 20-30$.

So youre saying that its the dccv thats causing this too? Cause i know that if the dccv is bad it'll causes one side to blow cooler than the other side.

Get a new one, a DCCV. I think it's the same thing your mechanic is talking about... they have different names... "A/C & Heater Control", "Heater Control Valve" or "DCCV"... except yours has two sides (driver & passenger side settings)... hence the name Dual Climate Control Valve. It has 5 hoses going to it. I had to have it replaced about 3 months ago. Make sure you and your mechanic are talking about the same part. (Also, make sure to have him check the inside of each hose, to make sure they are not clogged).

MOTORCRAFT Part # YG355 {#XW4Z18495AA}
$139 for a new Motorcraft DCCV

Ask your mechanic if you bought the part yourself, would he install it for you? How much for labor?

Use this thread for other info/reference to other problems/upgrades etc (remember to use search):

Use websites like www.RockAuto.com www.TascaParts.com www.eBay.com www.Amazon.com and Max from Chapman Ford 800-866-1520 Ext: 236 (was Five Star Ford) as he will give you good prices if you tell him you are from LVC - See add on the top right side of this page in the LVC Sponsors listings ==>

Good luck!

Thank you!!! You've been a very good help. And not such a smartass as the other guys. I typed "DVVC" But ment "DCCV" it was a typo. But I think he was talking about the part on the inside that controls it from heater to a/c. But i'll double check like you said. I've been to him so much i'm sure he won't charge me much to put it in. Nonetheless, Thank you very much for also putting up the links to order them from.

You are welcome.

I see you just joined LVC this month. I haven't been here very long either.

Let people know you have searched first, if you can't find something... they will be more helpful.

You might be surprised at the labor cost. It's not a quick install on a V8 (maybe it's easier on a V6). Just giving you a heads-up, as it will cost some $$$ just in labor.

Get permission first to buy your own parts, as some shops will not install customers parts.

Yeah i'll remember next time to let them know i searched it first.

He's also worked on my '95 4runner (replaced head gasket with the head gaskets set and the radiator that i bought), thermostat, valves, water pump, 2 belts, new battery, coolant, oil change, and the spark plugs (he bought) for $1000 w/labor.

And he's also doing the samething to my '00 cavalier for $500.00 + the head gasket kit i bought for $100.

My gf likes to blow head gaskets :shifty:

And hes about to rebuild my '88 crown vic 302 motor that has 346,xxx miles on it.

Family friend uses him and iterduced me to him.
