98 trans and 1-2 accumulator

i drove a 98 mark last night i have a 97 i wanted to know if i was to do the 1-2 upgrade would it pull like a 98 trans.I drove the 98 and was like damn this mofo drives good.I know they are different but i just wanted to know would it really make a difference.

The only thing that would change is the 1,2 shift...

well i hope so because its like its takes forever to shift into 2nd the 98's i have drove all pull good as hell
