98 Conti...left front speaker goes off....

Stock JBL CD stereo...the left front speaker cuts out intermittently. There is no 'static' noise that usually accompanies a bad connection or a shorting wire. It works and then just goes off. I will check connections as a first step but looking to see if anyone has had problems with the stereo itself that caused something like this. Thanks.

Hey Robert...
Sounds like your heading in the right direction. In rare cases the pigtail wires in the speakers, from the connection board through the speaker cone, to the voice coils would come loose. I'd try the "wiggle" diagnosis once you've exposed the suspect speaker. There just a few places to "wiggle" before you get pissed and clean/reconnect all the wires. I have a Toy.Camry where the drivers door controls wont operate the left-rear window while the door is fully opened. I've prodded and pulled on everything in there (apart from replacing the wires) and I still can't find the short.

This one may be difficult to trace too.
