what kind of motors fit in my 97 mark 8, i kno the cobra one does, i just got this car im curious to c what i could do to it to jucie it up a lil????? or even put some cobra parts on my motor????

Technically any modular would technically "fit," the 6.8 V10 would be a stretch, and only a 4.6 will clear the hood from what I can see.. I bet a hell of a lot of other engines "fit" too, plenty of room for a 4G63 or something like that :p

What exactly are you looking to do? FWIW these have probably the best modular block there is, the aluminum teksid block. So throw some forged internals in and give it hell...

Thats really rude there FROGMAN.I bought my Mark about 2 months ago and never knew much about anything with these cars.Thank you all for starting this forum.Ya- I guess you can search back to previous posts if you need information but sometimes people have direct question and there all not for you veteran. You have it in your power not to read and also not to reply to the posts.
NO DUMB QUESTION SHOULD BE UNANSWERED

AS FOR RUSTY----
Man these motors are the best motors Ford put out untill the 03-04 Cobras.People put these motors in other cars.I thought about that too with another car, if the motor was blown, to put in a 302 or 351 in it with over 600hp and scrictly drag it.If motor runs leave it.I know you could get 400 on motor with maybe cobra intake,t-body,cams,massair,exhaust.Thats a lot of motor.Or maybe supercharge it and get about 500.

Yawn...

You'll know better with time.

Again, you'll know better with time. There are guys with 12K motors here, myself included. Getting to even 400HP is not as easy as what you think it is.

Now this post is starting to get better for ya.Good constructive arguing.I am no stranger to making horsepower.I am new to the mark viii but i am not new to cars and motors.I went to college for motive power technician where we learned alot about airflow, horsepower, and stupid brake stuff.Ive owned several mustangs(one was supercharged 351 and i still own a 395ci 88GT with pump gas 550hp)and i also owned a 90markviii.I have also recently owned a speed shop that was just to much for me to handle and sold it.So i will get to know you and you may know me.
If you cant make 400hp with a cam swap, usually boltons, and a proper tune, something is wrong, honestly. In order to make power you will need to change the cams to move the tourque band higher in the rpm range. The heads are 4valves (they have been known to make 1600hp---cant do that with 2valve 302 or 351),and they breath enough cfm to create the power. You will definatley need a tune.A chip will take out the revlimiter and the shift should be up there over 7000rpm.The motor will take that.No valves to float.
I am not saying it is easy but it is not hard if you do the right things.I am also talking flywheel hp too.Take away 20% for drivetrain loses and that should be the magic mark. With compression and a strong rebuilt(better rods-powder rods aint too great)these motors will make 500hp to the flywheel.

Dont make me frogman sell my rustang to finance a 500hp mark on motor. That would be wild hey.Nice talkin bra or typin

Poor guy... You wanna sell a car to get into a HP whizzing match with me? I don't know if I should give you some props, be sad for you, or be amused at you.

Maybe you should invest in some Hooked on Phonics.

Now this is funny, a noob thats gonna take on Frogman, I'm gonna go gets some popcorn and watch the show.

The highest horsepower NA 4.6 is in the 450rwhp range and that's through a manual transmission and live axle in a Mustang chassis... and you will need a ton of money to duplicate that setup. Easier to just get a blower or nitrous.

what about a 95 svt cobra motor with mark tranny would that work, and will i need a new wire harness??

Didn't the 95's have the 5.0 in them???
The '95 Rustangs had the 5.0 in them, with 250 Cobra Rs getting the 5.8L. Only in '96 did the Cobra version of the Stang step up to much vaunted Lincoln 32 valve double over-head cam V8. But most of the Stangs got the 4.6 2V little sister and alot, I cringe, a V6.

Have faith in your teksid noobs,I have talked to a couple shops and they said that our motors are more than up to the task. 400hp-450hp is almost no problem for these motors, now if you go beyond that then you need to go with the forged stuff. And dont forget to beef up the drivetrain

The blocks are good for 1000-1200. It is the rods and pistons that are short lived over 400 rwhp. More specifically, the ring lands on the pistons in any kind of boosted situation are the main limiting factor.

And if you go with the wrong tuner you will have detonation like hell! I NEED A DYNO_TUNE!

/pissed - back to watching TV.

where can i order bushings for my lower control arm that connects to the frame from for cheap
