My 97 VIII low beam is burnt out on driver side. This oval plug has to come apart. What is the trick? Why do all bulbs have wires cut? Why are these eBay bulbs (OEM used) wires cut so close to plug? Leaves no wire to work with!! I'm confused!!

the plug can be taken apart.
take the caps off, you can kinda see down in there and find what needs to be released.
as far as cutting the wires, well people are dumb and lazy.

I was able to unplug power source to ballast. Found in wire harness at bottom of radiator. This eliminated the low beams. Cannot unplug low beam bulb (oval connector). Now I can run brights and have 2 headlites. This is a temporary fix until I can figure something else out. Any help here is appreciated.
