Can someone here please tell me what the hell is wrong with my car? It rides great! Since I had a headlamp and a couple of hoses replaced it doesn't shake, rattle or have any transmission or suspension difficulties. The suspension and air shocks are :L the bomb! It doesn't overheat. It has plenty of oil. The a/c and the heat work fine! I just don't get it.
After having driven a few minutes, the car smells like something's burning and I can't figure what it is.
Also, the electrical wiring is all screwed up. My radio has completely stopped working although the dashboard lights are still on. I can operate the windows from the driver's side but not from any of the passenger doors. Also, my alarm, side mirrors, automatic door locks, and driver's side seat adjust all stop working.
Outside of the annoying burning, the saddest part is that my car has a cd player (the first cd player I've ever had in a car!) and now I can't even use it. I guess I better be grateful that the moon roof still slides open.
Can someone explain to me what might be wrong? Thanks- Hopeless in DC

Actually the electrical problems are quite simple.

As far as the windows, i mean no insult whatsoever, but there is a lockout switch on the drivers door that allows the rest of the windows to be cut off from operation. If that switch is engaged, it may the switch itself that is faulty.

Now for the bulk of the electrical problems:

-check ALL the fuses on your hood compartment fuse box, and under dash fuse box.
-check especially under hood fuse K, it says windows and seat.
-check especially the blue 15 in position 8 in the under dash fuse panel

Now for the burning. Do you loose any oil? Do you notice any oil pooling at all on the upper engine. Of the top of my head im thinking valve cover gaskets. (not that bad). But you need to find out where that oil is coming from to properly diagnose it.

And as always, keep us posted.

Dclincolnlady, It could also be a problem with the alternator locking-up, this had happened on my 1994 Continental and there was no audible warning. It had seemed that once the motor got to a certain rpm the bushings(?) in the alternator would freeze-up and all of my electric controls would start acting all crazy(f.e. speedometer indicating 80 mph when I knew all too well I wasn't even going as fast as 25mph) It was an experience. After I replaced the alternator, everything was copasetic. ;}
I hope that helps, Please let us know what you find out.

feel your wheels with your hands after driving it around a while .. are the wheels HOT?? Or do they smeel??? Could be a brake dragging!! Read my posts on the rear rubber brake lines plugging!
