Battery finally went bye bye lol. WEnt out to start it today and she said "nope, not gonna happen, and plus its -16º."

These things arent cheap to replace either. people should mention that to other people when they plan to buy a LS. Be Prepared to spend 85-140$ on a new battery when it goes.

Thats they way i looked at it. i had a cheaper option of like 70$ but it only had a 48 month warrenty. but then a co-worker made a nice point of "are you going to own it another 4 years?"

I got it for 96$, and a 10$ core. so i dont know if i get 10$ back or what. it was originally 137 but i get a discount through work.

well i did it through work. i already got a discount on it. but i took my battery back to parts and they didnt give me money.

Ill ask them tomorrow i guess. Atleast i had negative labor costs. I get paid hourly and put my own battery in.

its vented. The problem is theres a vent on both sides and i only have one vent hose. i dunno what that means.

You might want to block off the unused vent. That must be a universal vented battery. Good news that the dealer isn't our only option!

Where did you find a battery? When I looked for one for my 03 LS at Pep Boys and Autozone, they didn't have it and said I needed to go to dealer.

9 years on the OEM battery says a lot, that it is in the trunk must obviously add to the life and hard to complain about the replacement cost.

We have a place called "car quest" here in cincinnati, not sure what other cities they are in. they had it.

Napa Also had one but it was 114$.

pepboys and autozone didnt carry them, Interstate doesnt even make one.

And yea it being in the trunk probably says alot, the amount of calcium build up is waaay lower. the cables and connections stay alot cleaner probably helps with recharging it.

I heard today from a guy that in cold weather right befor you shut the car down, give it a quick blip of the throttle, that will charge the battery a little and it will be better to start if its cold out next time you go to start it.

That does nothing for the battery, use to do that in the old carburetor days to put raw fuel in throat of the carburetor.

Not to mention they dont have to go through the extreme tempature changes, -20 say up to 150. I'm sure that helps they're longevity aswell.

My original battery crapped out today. Had it replaced under warranty. The car is less than 3 years old!! :(
I hope this next battery lasts longer...

It was funny when I tried to start it this morning, the car began to freak out from the low voltage. Some relays under the hood were going brrrrrrrrrrr switching a mile a minute before I disconnected the bat cable! :)

The Lincoln LS is very sensitive to low voltage and your right about the car freaking out.

Sorry to hear only three years of service, that is short for the OEM.
