'89 Town Car AOD rebuild and rear main seal

Hello, My '89 Town Car is going to have it's AOD tranny rebuilt.The direct drive clutch is bad. It will have the upgrades and a reman'd torque converter. I'm thinking the rear main seal should be replaced, but who makes the best one now a days? Rubber or teflon? Fluoroelastomer? I talked to a trusted mechanic and he said to have them install a rubber seal. Or should it be left alone? What do you think? Anything else I should be aware of? Thanks in advance.
