I have ruined 2 perfectly good mufflers in the past 3 weeks. The car drives pretty good but on 2 occasions the car started to cut off and then back-fires and when this happened the muffler rips at the seam. The car has been idleing high (around 2000 rpm) and I thought maybe the timing is off, but it appears the idle is electronically controlled and cannot be adjusted. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
