5speed/ 6speed tranny?

i have a 00 v8 ... i want a 5 speed/6 speed what on the market will bolt up to this engine? if not what could be interchanged to it?

not correct. The mustang does use a 5R55S (like the Gen2 LSes) but the bell housing is of course different since the engine it mounts to is different.

Whomever said that was wrong. Like Quik said, the Gen2 LS does have the same model transmission but it is totally different on allot of ways. Unlike many other things in the car world where you can match model numbers and be good the transmission is not one of them. It gets much more specific than model numbers. It would not be beneficial at all to swap from a LS 5R55N or Gen2 LS 5R55S to a Mustang 5R55S as they are extremely similar in allot of ways. You would essentially be paying for a custom swap to a transmission you already have. The Ford 5R55N, 5R55S, and 5R55W transmissions from the later model Explorer's, Mustang's, and LS are all quite similar on the inside.

I did mention in another thread that if a person had the right skills they could make something happen with another transmission but it would be a very custom job. Unless a person really needs a mod like this I do not see it as being viable from a cost to benefit standpoint.
