Do you think a 55w 6000 hid kit is too hot for the 1993 mark viii headlight housing and will burn the reflective material?

I have the 35w 6000k and they have been great. been running them for almost 2 years now. I dont have any experience with the 55w but was too afraid of the extra heat.

IF you have your housing lined with chrome tape you will be ok with the higher wattage if not go with the lower to save them. it isn,t to hard to change them just takes time to do.

i have a ddm tuning 5000k 35w cuz im also afraid of the heat.
too blue for my taste, im gonna switch to 4500k, but fine otherwise.

I have been running the 55w kit and had no problems. However, they seem to require alot of power, they will flicker and somtimes go out anytime the fan and/or the air pump cycles. I am running the factory alt with underdrive pullys. They will not run on anything lower than 12v

Dual 35 watt 6000K kits here and both run at the same time without any problems. I only need the lows but both do work without flicker. Latest phone pic taken about a week ago. Housings are one year old and rarely ever used at night. Phone pic sucks. It wasn't set for night shots. Anyway, don't see the need for a 55 watt kit. The housings don't need any additional heat for something that isn't really that much brighter.

I have a 55w kit in my gen 1 HID housings. They don't have much time on them yet. The housings get warm to the touch, but nothing too bad.

Mine is 6000k, I'm considering switching to 5000k though.

That's what I wanted mine to look like but they are blue, I even bought the 35watt 5000k.

Like almost everybody said I'd get the 35watt kit they are bright enough for dark country roads, even with them aimed so high they light the tree tops up!

5K should be whiter than mine but then again, that is a phone pic. I really don't see a lot of blue in them though. I have had 8K before and there was some blue and I also have had 10K and they really had blue in those. I also have 12K and they look plain gay lol. They were purple. Pic of those below with digital camera.

These were with 8K or 10K lows and 6K highs.

These are both 6K high and lows inside the garage.
