My nephew just wrote off my brothers 02 Expedition he is ok just a bum shoulder and maybe whiplash but the truck not so good.

Thing is the motor is brand new!! Not a rebuild but new and it only has like a 1000 miles on it. I know the deck hieght is too high for our cars but besides that is there any other reason other than to sell it off that I grab it?

Your ideas and thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that there was a Lightning powered M8, besides sticking way up out of the hood, i'm sure you could make an N/A 5.4 work in a Mark.

dan is right that it would fit but would be too high. the shock tower problem would be true if it was a 5.4L DOHC but an Expedition it SOHC i think.doing the swap would be cool but the gains would not be that great not to mention that you would be putting even more weight on the front end. you would be better off just building up you 4.6 or just drop in a 03 corba 4.6. but thats just my 2 cents

It would work. Perhaps not as it currently sits. Some thinghs would need to be changed, ie intake manifold, perhaps oil pan, and maybe valve covers. There is already a 5.4 Mustang Cobra.

Yeah I thought that it was just a get the motor and sell it off. Wrecker motors with 80 K miles are going for 3K up here so Maybe I can get some more out of this one I will keep you all posted on the sale.

The kid is ok but I am not sure for how long as I think Dad is going to kill him when he is feeling better for writing off his truck!!! Front diff is broken and the frame is broken as well, could not open the drivers door when it was hit on the passenger side, kid had to crawl out the window. Truck is done.

Not into having the motor sticking out of the hood on a daily driver. Yes I would like to do power increases on my car but I want it to still look like it does, sleepy!!

humm... always thought the lightning was a 4v, my bad

edit: Come to think of it, I R/R'd a lightning motor once, it was a 2v...

That thing isn't terribly fast though...?
I wanna put a 6.0 Powerstroke in sumthin, thats awesome!

There is too much weight up front and not enough traction from behind. The Cummins 6BT weights 1100 lbs so weight distribution would be terrible. It's relatively easy to increase the power on a Cummins but it won't do any good in this car.
