I went and got an estimate to see how much it would cost to get my windows tinted and they told me that 35% is no longer legal . They told me I had to get 43%. I live in Mississippi by the way...So how much is the fine if they catch you with darker tint?? Because I see a lot of folks driving around down here with DARK windows.....

Really? I find it hard to believe that 8% would make that much of a difference. Have you contacted your local DMV and asked them? I'd do that first just to be sure. I live in Tennessee and 35% is the approved legal tint shade.

As I understand, you'll just get a fix it ticket. You can just go in and pay this(over and over) and you'll be ok. Here in CA i believe it's $65.... but usually cops arent A$$#oles about this. In fact, i know a cop that got an all around 15% tint on his car.

But if you're not willing to risk it, dont even bother getting a 43%....just keep it the way it is.

fix it ticket... doesnt that mean you have to fix it first then go in and pay it, showing proof that it was fixed.. and either have a cop sign off or something along those lines..??

i have 35% on my driver and passenger windows, 5% everywhere else, nothing on windshield except the stock strip in the glass.

I got mine for about 225 if i remember correctly with insurance. if i was to get pulled over they'd strip the two windows up front and let me get the ticket removed. I can then come back and get my windows re applied... this can happen a total of 2 times.

It hasn't happened yet, but after the second time is when i leave tint off the roll downs up front... in MI it is illegal to have anything on driver/passenger windows or windshield without any eye doctor notes... any other windows anything goes!

P.S

If they give you a hard time about the darker shade, tell them you don't want a receipt and you'll pay cash. That should turn change their mind, it always does. *owned*

NO...unless it's different in your state, this is how a fix it ticket works:

If you get a fix it ticket, and you go fix it.....you dont pay anything. You just show proof that you got it fixed.

If you dont fix it, you just pay the fine and then you're ok until they catch you again!

Youre basically beating the system.... :monkey:

I have a friend that works at the court(at that window with the long line where you go pay fines)...and she says that people go in all the time to pay fix it tickets, but never fix whatever that problem was, in cases where they just dont want to(tinted windows) or maybe they cant afford to.

I once got a fix it ticket for an expired registration...of course i got that one fixed :woowoo2: ....and i didnt have to pay any fine.

Right, my miscommunication, you can have it on the windhshield to cover what is OEM in the glass (approx 4"). I was implying any type of full windshield coverage without special notes. I've driven in buddies cars that are too dark and its just entirely to dangerous to even see out, you need some light! :D

hahha........43%.........that is basically stock. Don't even waste your time on that. There HAS to be some place that would do it. I got 15% all around and the only thing my guy said was i am required by state law to tell you that 35% blah blah......the whole time he was smiling. As soon as he got done i said, i want 15% i take responsibility. He smiled and said no prob.
