3M Tune Up Kit or Sea Foam Motor Treatment

For the purpose of a yearly tune-up on a Gen 2 ...

Are there any opinions on using the "3M 08963 Fuel System Tune-Up Kit" ?

Or would it be better to use "Sea Foam Motor Treatment" ?

i wouldn't use either. put a new fuel filter in it and call it a day.

I run seafoam from time to time through my intake via a vacuum line suppose to help with carbon build up but who knows for $9/can

I avoid 3M whenever possible, I've used Sea Foam...it looked pretty (white smokey) but did not make my leaky IMRC pod hold vac :facesjump

What I'd like to see is someone pull their Intake off and examine their carbon build up level, then put it all back together and run seafoam treatment, then pull it back apart and witness the nothing that happened

but ill one up ya...and use my boroscope and look at back of valves before and after

I avoid 3M whenever possible

oh? why's that? just 3M's automotive stuff, or the whole company? actually curious here, as 3M makes good products otherwise..

and if you all have ever seen the crap inside a high mileage intake, you would know seafoam won't do a damn thing. i spent 2 days cleaning my intake, scrubbing with a wire brush. no fancy chemical is just gonna make that build up go away. no way.

you can even see the totally choked egr port.

if it bothers you that much, just take it apart and clean it.

oh yeah, 3M has great products...but prices are 3x, b/c of the name

3M invented post-it-notes, case closed! Actually I have a few friends that work there; they have some pretty cool science projects going on.

Basically you’re not going to get much cleaning action out off any bottle, got to get in there and use elbow grease.

The fuel system cleaners on the market are good... but not in a motor that's got 100k+ and has never been cleaned regularly.. it's all good for maintenance type cleanings . Most engines look like a bar be que pit inside because people never do regular maintenance. In these cases, you'll have to bust out the brushes

I have half a can of seafoam from last fall I was going to suck up, think i'll just throw it in the tank instead.

For now, I'll try the "3M 08814 Max Strength Fuel System Cleaner" and look for another dedicated intake and throttle plate cleaner.
