I read somewhere the cams for the 4.6 will work in the 3.9? Is there any truth in this statement?

I seriously doubt it. The 4.6 is not dimensionally the same as the AJ engine series. Lobe spacing and journal size and spacing are all likely different. In addition, the 4.6 is designed to work against 'followers' and the AJ works directly against the valves/springs by way of 'buckets'. It would be just as likely that you could use a double pair of chibrolay 'mouse motor' cams.
