Frame could be bent. I doubt they would total it for the cost of a door and airbag, unless it has a billion miles on it..

Yeah, that is surprising. Door, maybe seat, dash, side airbags, perhaps front fender and rear door as well? And in some states I think they can total it for as low as 50% of the value.

yes but they still have frame rails, and generally when they are damaged they are uber expensive and very labor intensive to replace.
