So 2 days ago the car was running fine with exception of a hard shift between 2nd 3rd sometimes. I go to a golf outing and come out and start my car and it is sputtering very bad. I tried to rev it up but it didnt seem to help. I put it in reverse to drive it and it stalls. I repeating that for a few times with the same results. Finally I held my foot on the gas lightly and put it in reverse and go it to go. Once I got going it would drive fine. Right up until I tried to stop and took my foot off the gas and it stalled out coming to every stop light or stop sign. Now it wont even sputter without my foot on the gas, it just dies out. Ive done nothing other than disconnect the battery to do a reset which did nothing.

This is my 3rd vehicle in 3 months and I am growing very impatient. Has 138k miles on it also. Thanks for all replies.

1) possibly a severe misfire, replace all coils & plugs, if there is oil in the plug wells you'll need to do a valve cover gaskets as well.

2) possibly a vacuum leak under hood somewhere, check all lines near the intake.

3) possible clogged fuel filter or pump not producing enough pressure. would need replacement.

4) possible clogged air breather element, check and replace if needed.

5) possible fouled up Mass airflow Sensor, would need gentle cleaning or replacement.

6) ensure the correct fuel is used, the LS wants the best.

~ other than that, all I can think is your ex chased you down, didn't like the new car and put sugar in the tank. Just kidding!

Any CEL trouble lights on the dash, did you read the fault with a OBDII reader yet ?

What year, V6 or V8 ?

GL w/ repairs.

Well I just replaced the fuel filter with zero success in solving the problem. I will say I noticed an odd noise this time when trying to get it to run normal. Sounded like a minor backfire almost. Maybe something with the CC?

And I cant get it to run while idling for more than about 30 seconds and for no time at all if I am not revving it up.

Is the Check Engine light on ?

It's probably misfiring like crazy!

btw: I offer no refunds, it needed a fresh fuel filter anyhow, don't believe me,
try holding the old one up and let the fuel within it run out backwards. take notice of the brown mud!
