Hello,
First post since purchase of my LS in May. I had the car overheat a few weeks ago. My first thought was the thermostat. After reading here that there is a specific way to add coolant and bleed air out of the system, I tried that first. Had a lot of air bleed out and added some coolant. A day later I noticed a drip coming from under the car after driving it home from work. It stopped after the car cooled down. It would not leak while warming up, just after driving it. Today I topped off the coolant and drove it around the block. It was leaking when I got home. I lifted up the car and saw that it is coming from on top of the bell housing. I looked up the hose diagram and saw the lines that run across the back of the motor but they are metal. I could not see any leaks from the hoses that attach to the metal lines either. Any idea where it might be leaking?

Thanks, Jeff

You need to read some more of the posts and do a little searching. Your degas bottle has cracked and that's where the leak onto the bell housing is probably coming from. (If not the degas bottle, then you will be into a lot more fun.) You would be wise to search and read up on this, because you have a bunch of other plastic cooling system parts that are going to fail within a month, more or less. It would be best to go ahead and replace those too.

But Joegr, it's a 2004 with a coolant leak, we might not have that year covered here on this forum just yet.

sorry j/k
