My Father-in-Law of 30 years passed last year at the age of 80. The whole family is helping Mother-in-Law settle into her new life, she is 81. The task that has come to me is how to dispose of Dad’s 2004 LS they took down to Florida while they both could still drive the distance. Now the problem is figuring out what type of LS this is so to price and sell it where it sits. Her 204 LS was built 8/7/2003 and current has 52K miles of which 5K came from my in-laws use.

Hope with the following information from Lincoln and the brain power here will figure out is it a standard Luxury or a Premium model The LS being researched is for a 3.0 V-6 so excluded references to the Sport and Ultra trim levels in my analysis.

According to CarFax and Lincoln ‘build’ information the car has the following options:

3.0L DOHC-EFI V-6
5-speed trans
3.58 rear
Moonroof
Driver and Passenger heated/cooled seats
Convenience Group (no details provided)
Leather wrapped and wood trim steering wheel
Leather shift knob
Interior wood trim accents
Automatic temperature control
16 inch chrome cast aluminum 11 spoke wheels
AM/FM Stereo with in-dash 6 CD changer
Audiophile Sound System (this was listed twice)
Advance Trac
Leather interior trim scheme with dark stone interior trim color (color code U)
Luxury Package (no details provided)
Light French Silk exterior color (Paint Code G3)

Here is the fun part: In reading the specification page in the 2004 LS catalog, seems any LS could be ordered with the Advance Trac. The Moonroof and headed/cooled seats are available on the Appearance Package and Premium package. The 16 inch chrome cast aluminum 11 spoke wheels were optional on the premium package only (the standard was a painted 16 inch with 11 spokes.)

Putting together the leather interior trim with the wood/leather steering wheel and leather shift knob, this description fits right into the V-6 Premium package. I believe her LS is the V-6 Premium and not the standard Luxury LS. Someone help me out please?
I’ve never seen the car nor a picture of it. But in January and February as family and Mother-in-Law went to visit, it did run fine. Just no one took a picture of it, leaving me to do the heavy lifting with Lincoln document and a CarFax.

Just for reference with does who order the vehicle’s documentation from Lincoln, would they list the level of trim such as Appearance Package, V-6 Premium. For my own peace of mind, purchased the 26 page 2004 LS brochure from eBay to assist with my research, maybe there are more option combinations that can lead the way.
Any and all are welcome to help.

Wow IMO your putting way to much effort into this. The differences in price between a base v6 and a premium isn't that substantial to warrant all this research.

The mileage will be what affects the price the most. Try to find a listing for an LS with similar mileage and options and price it near that. Or even more look for an LS with similar options and see if they call it a premium or a base if your really must know.

Not trying to be rude.

I'm going to say its a premium. And a fair sale price would be between 7000-8800.

I would also not mention anything about disposing of it for your in-laws either. That tells the seller that you suddenly had a car you don't need thrust upon you and will likely take any lowball offer just to unload it. Instead, it's a nice car that you've decided to sell because you no longer drive it much which gives the impression of being able to wait as long as it takes to get the price you want. They don't need to know it's for the inlaws until it's signed over and you have the cash.

All that research is because he's falling in love with the LS, it's a keeper.
Next month's question, "will these wheels fit?"

Followed by "Where can I get a good deal on coils" followed by "My car seems to be overheating; any ideas?"

followed by, I only get heat on one side, and my sunroof is leaking...

luckily, he doesn't have message center buttons to have to dig out of behind the dash...
