2003 V6 Radiator Fan Issue

So im having a really weird problem with my radiator fan. I thought at first it was the fan being out but i replaced the fan and its still not turning on. I retested the wiring and when i used a power probe to try and just jump the switch on it blew a fuse. This didnt happen when i first tested the original fan. I retested the plug with the heavier gauge wires and both wires are grouned out and one should have 12v power. Has anyone seen this problem and is there a way to fix this or go around it.

sounds like you already know what the problem is... and well if the power supply wire is grounded out somewhere, you need to find where and make the proper repair.
 
If it's the heavy power wiring that is dead, the fuse you are looking for is hidden under the dash on the passenger side, on the firewall, down low.
The fan is controlled by a digital signal from the PCM. There's no "switch' to "try and just jump the switch." That's a great way to damage the PCM and the fan.
 
I just checked the fuse and its dead, but i dont know how to change it out. Would it be ok to add a maxi 60a socket and fuse or does it need a special one?

I'd surely put the correct fuse back in. Go to your dealer. It's probably less than $10.
 
Its riveted shut. The casing says 60 but there is no part number. The only one i could find is 3W4T-8C290-A which seems to be the whole power cable assembly.

Even riveted things can be and are replaced. It's not going to be any more difficult to replace it with the same part than it would be to throw something aftermarket in there.
 
Found the issue. Turns out the new radiator fan was faulty and was blowing the fuse. I found a used one on Craigslist and now it works fine
