Don't judge me on previous posts lol I had asked for a map to the 12/13 speaker locations bc when I first bought the car, edmunds.com said that it had that setup.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyones ever attempted removing the factory sub and replacing it with an aftermarket in the same spot. (Not a box in trunk)

I have a RocFos Punch P3 shallow mount sub in box now in my trunk, and want to see about moving it into the factory sub location in the rear deck to open up more trunk room.

Anyone with exp?

I got a 2002 and it doesn't have the subwoofer amp and speaker at the back. I just installed a factory subwoofer amp and alpine speakers (6x9) from the junkyard. The factory sub amps sucks anyway. Planning on replacing with an aftermarket later.

if going to do this with a real sub, it needs to be a free air sub. i didn't think the P3 shallows were (i know the regular p3's are not) mostly since they are designed to fit into extra small boxes to fit where other subs wouldn't.

The infinity kappa are good since the factory unit is 2ohms I have done this setup before and also have done the aftermarket ones they cut the power by half since they are 4ohms. HD-690CF CDT AUDIO google that

I have the sound mark system and I'm about to install a double din nav unit what's the best way to install this unit and not lose control of the factory sub system sounds good to me just would like the new head unit

I'm installing a alpine Ina-w910 it's a nice unit and thats the thing. Is there a different harness for the sub sit up then for reg LS sit up and if so how do I make sure I get the right one ??

I'll chime in with a complete thread derail, what's a good sub option for the 2005 6x9 subs for the NAV / THX setup? Mine are shot.

The only two I know of are Cadence CVLW69 or Tang Band W69-1042J. Otherwise, it won't fit the hole or won't be a sub. I'm leaning towards Cadence for now. Both are on Amazon.

well the 2003 is a little tricky, you will need to take the car apart and look at the harness to see which one it is...

Early 03s(like mine) use the ford "98+" harness and sometime in the middle of the 03 production run, they changed to the newer "03+" harness. and there are two versions of each harness, one version just comes with the main wire harness, the other version also comes with a smaller harness with the amp turn on wires and a pair of RCA connectors. make sure the harness you get comes with both harnesses in the bag (they usually cost about the same or close)

if you have the early 2003, you will need this harness Metra 70-5519

if you have a late 2003, you will need this. Metra 70-5521

fair enough, the only year i had to go on from that post was the "2003" in your title that only you and the OP have in your posts, i didn't even look at who posted it, just saw the title and figured it was the OP... my bad.

I was trying to addmy issue to this post but I think I need to just explain what I have a issue with and need help with because I'm a little confused of what you guys talking about now

I have a 2006 LS V8 with the optional stock (soundmark) system. This system has the sub and amp factory. I am installing a double din alpine ina-w910 in the dash. My question is there a wire harness I will have to get to keep the factory (soundmark) system working properly after installing Alpine ina -w910

I just looked up that harness and is says 2003-2005. Will it still work with 2006?? I'm asking because I have learn that anything can make a difference with a LS

Yes, if it works with 2005, it will work with 2006. That's the harness that you need.
