My car is a 2003 Lincoln LS with 3.0L V6 engine and automatic transmission, manufactured January 2003, 155K miles. This is the 2nd-generation car and I love it. Can any forum member advise regarding problems with power door locks and exterior mirrors?

Power lock on driver-side rear door doesn’t work. The lock functions fine manually and I can hear the power mechanism when the lock button is actuated, but the lock doesn’t respond to the power mechanism. I removed the door panel for inspection but didn’t notice any obvious problems.

Power exterior mirror on passenger side doesn’t work. The mirror adjustment doesn’t work and neither does the puddle light. Because I don’t hear any noise when I actuate the switch, I assume either the mirror motor is faulty or it isn’t getting power. Based on advice from other posts in this forum, I’ve checked the fuses and already replaced the (a) door switch for the mirror, and (b) puddle light bulb.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The door lock could be the wiring or the REM, but it is probably the door latch assembly. You can remove it and see if you can fix it, or just replace it.

The mirror is interesting because the light and the mirror motors (there are two) are unrelated. Do you know if the mirror heat is working?
I'd take the inside door trim off and see if the mirror connectors are plugged in.

I had same problem with wife's car. Sprayed latch with liquid graphite, open closed door 10 times, key fob worked. But later had to replace all door locking parts, $210 @ stealers. Joe is right again best bet replace save long term hassle. Checking power/connections to mirror best idea.
