i have a chance to get a 2003 LS 6 with 31000 (1 owner) miles for $18,300. It's certified and comes with a bumper to bumer warranty to 75k miles. It has all the options including complete wood package, CD changer, moonroof and heated seats. In the los angeles area, does this sound like a good deal ? I may have to add 10% extra for tax, etc.

Actually the price is 18,750 and the total is $20,625 (that 75k mile bumper to bumper sounds like a good thing ). What would a good price be (in so cal) ?

Wasn"t this car nearly $40 grand brand new ?

The car's new price doesn't enter into it; with Lincoln dumping the last new LSes, the prices on all LSes are depressed. $20K is way too high for any V6 LS; you can buy a newer V8 for that price. Heck, for under $28K, you can get one of the remaining brand new '06es (and those are all V8s).

Sounds high. Im almost positive I saw a 2004 LSE V8 for sale recently for 18k. Listed on that off-lease site that was listed.

I got my 04 LS V8 for $18K last year with 3900 miles with a 75K warranty. That doesnt sound like a good deal to me on a LS6. I would get them down $2-3K more on the price

Heck, I'll sell you mine for $18K and throw in the SCT Xcal2 and all my tunes for that price and no ... even mine is not a good deal for $18K and it too is Lincoln CPO with the 6yr/75K warranty. There are some real good deals on LSes right now. But then, if you are like me, even if you could buy a new one for $26K-$28K, I cannot justify that large a car note.

Look at the dealers inventory online. Here in MO, I was contacted by the Used Dealer where I bought my car 2 years ago. He said he has a 2003 V8, 36xxx miles with a "Ford Motor Co 100 Anniversary badge" for $23,000. I looked it (after they closed) and it was nice. Black, tinted, spoiler, special rims & tires. I also saw a Blue plain 2005 v6 next to it. I looked online at their inventory. BOTH cars are listed for $17,995. The 2005 v6 has 51xxx, but for same price, I would have to over look the '03 with lesser miles.

I'm not financially able to trade up at this time. So I have to stick it out with my 2000 v6. Besides- I can't find anywhere that Ford had put a 100 year special edition badeing on the LS. Not ever on the Ford Lincoln website. Has anyone seen this badge? I'll go by there tonight and take a pic with my camera phone.

Well, the same place also has a 2003 LS 8 with 41,000 miles with navigation, etc listed for 21999. Ihear what you're all saying - the sales manager told me he would x-plan a new 2006 LS 8 for me for 29,000.

I did a search of autotrader.com and cars.com for this area and found that the asking prices for the 2003 LS 6 are all around $18,000 and the 2003 LS 8 are around $22,500. i realize that these are only the advertised prices though.

I was leaning on keeping my 2000 LS 8 for $8800 (106,000 miles) but the REAL question is:

Should I keep the 2000 LS8 that may always be worth $4000 - $5000 if I keep it nice OR get a 2003 that will likely be worth $12,000 next year. I'm feeling so comfortable with the condition of the 2000 LS 8 that I really don't expect maintenance costs to enter into the picture - it seems like a good reliable car.

I'd personally keep the V8 LS you have. I definitely would NOT go from the V8 (even the early V8) to the V6.

Well, today we're at 17,200. :) I just drove a 2004 LS 6 with 29,000 miles and it had plenty of power. Actually the difference in HP between my 2000 V8 and the 2004 V6 was only about 25 HP. It was certified and they had it advertised at $19400; many less options than the 2003 LS 6 at the other dealers for $17200.
