Hello Deville forum,
I'm a Lincoln guy, who scored a low down dog dirty deal on an 02 Deville.
I replaced some rubber intake boot thing, brakes, motor mount, and it's like a brand new car, I've been driving it since mid July no problems, today I left campus and smelled something like melting rubber or plastic (wire insulation perhaps) by the time I got back to my place about 2 minutes away the cabin was filling with smoke from where I think was under the dash towards the middle or slightly on the passenger side. I checked thoroughly under the hood and didn't see anything wrong and didn't smell it outside the car, I'm convinced the problem is within the dash guts somewhere not the motor. Nothing's been done to the wiring, oem cd player.
Are there any known issues that cause smoke to come from under the dash?
Has anyone's else experienced this with their car?
I've looked as far as I can look with limited tools and space and I don't see anything that looked damaged under there. I'm driving this car from school here in Atlanta to NorthWest Ohio for cmas next weekend where I can do a more thorough inspection IF it makes it there..
