I replaced the coolant resivor tank about a year ago everything is fine no leaks or anything just from time to time when I've been driving in stop and go traffic when I turn my car off I kinda smell like the coolant smell, again no leaks and the resivor tank stays full
Any thoughts

ok so the coolant lvl is a little lower then full so it came out some how I dont see any coolant residue anywhere I remeber the hot coolant smell from when I had that crack it the resivor tank could be like in the hose?

A small leak, especially if it is over the engine somewhere, will evaporate with hardly any trace of it left behind. Look very closely around all the hoses and pipes for any staining left behind. Look particularly hard at all the plastic parts. (Fortunately for you, the gen I cooling system has a lot less plastic than the gen II.)

can a gen 2 tanks fit the gen 1 and if not is there an after market one that is better cuz when i replaced the tank I got another ford one so plz let me know

I don't know if gen I and gen II degas bottles are interchangeable or not. However, it does seem that the gen II degas bottle is no better than the gen I, so it shouldn't matter.

so if it is the degas bottle theres nothing I can do but just keep buying that stupid tank all the time

so I got my transmission flushed and asked the guy if he could pressurize my coolant tanks and its leaving the tank and we cant find where its goin plz help

plastic pipes near thermostat

on my 01, the plastic coolant pipes cracked on the seams that the rubber hoses were pressed into near the thermostat. Here's the thing about it. I needed someone else to start the car so I could find it. On start the seam would squirt fluid then seal up quickly leaving a few teaspoons of fluid. It would dry quickly leaving no trace. You might try putting UV dye in the system and tracking it down that way. But I would check the plastic pipe in front of the engine for leaks, its common.

The first suspects should be all the other plastic parts of the cooling system, as well as the DCCV.

damn how often do you have to replace yours jolinc01?
Just once

Did they put UV dye in the system, like suggested by another member?

Big +1 it took me around 2 years to track down small leaks around plastic areas of the cooling system. Of course i wasn't really motivated since there was still coolant in the system.
