Hello all. Have an LS with a very annoying problem. Throwing code p0190. Everyday I start it it runs fine for about 5 min but after that it idles at about .5 and wont let me give it gas. When I try to give it gas it spits out black smoke mostly from the passengers exhaust. After its been running for 40 min to an hour it finally idles where its supposed to and runs fine for the rest of the day unless it hasn't been running for several hours and I have to go through the same issue. After its running fine the engine make a clattering sound from the passengers side also. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P0190 "Fuel Rail Presure Sensor Ckt Mailfunction"

Your presure sensor could be bad. Are you getting any other codes? Car running rich?

Fuel pressure sensor p/n #9F972

Its piece number 4

Thanks for the reply. I don't really know what running rich means but Im assuming that means feeding to much gas to the engine. If so yes I do think its running very rich. Could that cause the clacking noise?

Yes, that us what I ment by "running rich".

And yes, that could cause a rough idle. The car may also stall from time to time.

If your senser is faulty and telling the computer that there is not enough fuel being pumped, the computer will try to compensate for the differance.

Thanks everyone for their replies. I replaced the sensor (98 dollars from the dealer) and the car is running right except for the clacking which is another issue. I think its the timing chain. Other than that the car is running and I can actually drive it when I need to.
