2000 V8 LS hydrolic fan question

just had to replace the motor in the car, so now its all back together and running and I do not know how to bleed the hydrolic fan system to get it going. Anyone know the best way.....

Also does anyone know for sure what way the gear goes on ( that is behind the plate that turns the fans) it has a cutout in the gear...not the keyway cutout.. does the cutout face out to the front of the car or in towards the motor.

I bleed the system by applying a vacuum to the resevoir - and letting it run, fan on. I use my brake bleeder (to apply vacuum) and wrap electrical tape around the hose to fit tightly (and seal) where the lid goes.
