2000 ls v8 coils replacement

Hey Whats up "LVC,"


I have a 2000 ls v8 that's giving me problems with my performance when I attempt to accelerate. I was told to check my coils, My engine lights is on. I had it checked and it reads back as engine coils misfire. I already replaced 2 coils..Now it's Happening again...I wanted to know if anyone knew where I can buy the entire coil pack for my car, instead of me having to replace one by one...i would really prefer to come across high performance coils if there are any?

There's no "coil pack" to buy. The LS uses COP (Coil on Plug) which is very different than coil packs. Coil packs fire two cylinders from each coil. A V8 would usually have two coil packs with two coils in each, and eight spark plug wires. With COPs, you have eight coils and no plug wires. Each coil fires only one cylinder. This allows for better timing control.

A good source for the COPs is Max at FiveStarFord. See the ad to the right. (No one has found any coils that are better than stock (that fit and work) yet.)
 
I seen some one before use some sort of accel or MSD coils. They stuck up a bit higher and the coil cover could not be used but they said they worked fine. Do a search on here, I am sure you can find the thread yet.

Otherwise stock cheapest would be global on ebay. I bought these just about a month ago before I put my LS up for sale. They fit and worked perfectly.
 
Personally I have the Accels and they work great. The car did seem more responsive after but then again I was going from faulty coils to new ones.
 
Stock ford coils are 2w4z-12029-b listing for 92.56 each and cost lvc $54.15ea or 433.20 for a set of 8. Do not forget to check for oil on the boots which short out the coils..then you need the v/c gasket sets for an additional 48.09 per side.

55 bucks a coil isnt bad
 
if your coils are going bad then i would check to see what is causing them to bad in the first place, and fix that first (or at the same time) so the same problem doesn't keep killing coils, most likely it a leaky valve cover gasket that lets oil leak into the plug well and shorts the coils out.

According to Ford, it's failure of the epoxy. Yes, oil soaking will kill coils, however all four that have failed on me did so with no oil or water. I also know of several others with dry coil failures.
 
Thread revival: Does anybody know the part number or where I can get the screws that hold the coil cover onto the engine? I lost one of them and would rather not risk water getting in or whatnot.

If not, junk yard it is.

I think I may still have some. I will check tonite and let you know. I sent a set to Alax a while back.
