2000 LS rear view mirror

Hey guys,

I've asked before of where I can find a rear view mirror for my car. I looked at a local junk yard with no luck of anything similar.

I just recently found a nice mirror on ebay, However it is for the 02 Lincoln LS, where i have a 2000 LS.

The only difference I can see is the added button, and the built in compass


Would this mirror be compatible?

I think so, but if you don't have a compass now, that compass won't work either. The mirror is essentially the same I believe

Im going to take a lunch break -- Current at work and I will investigate my current mirror and connections once more.

I dont see a reason why the compass would not work? I always though they were built into the mirror unit.

I also found an exact mirror for my car -- On ebay they want more for the base mirror for my car than the one with the compass go figure.

it will work but make sure the new mirror comes with the wiring harness, the plug on the back of them is different. if it comes with it you can splice it to your current wires now and it will work fine.

I took the mirror apart in some way just a few moments ago. Seems as if there is a module on the window. I took the plastic cover off and the module off, very simple with pins that push out.


While I was taking the module out i noticed that the substance in side the mirror was moving. I saw that it moved to one side of the mirror. Once I leveled the mirror back out, it leveled its self back out.

A black box at the base of the mirror is an auto windshield wiper sensor. Turn your wiper selection to AUTO and get out, try it at night, and you should be able to see an amber light there.

Why do you need a new mirror? Did the factory one start to pool? Happened to me too.

The reason why I am getting a new mirror is because it does not dim.

The very top of the mirror is normal no tint. and then it is all tint, dark, and it dont help with the back windows being tinted. Along with the the light does not even come on the mirror.

I checked the fuses, all look good. Not sure what else to check to resolve this problem. Makes driving at night hard aswell

yep that happend to me too, all the tint pooled up, so i bought one with a compass
